NewsReel 15/11/14: A Tribute-Dr. Myles Munroe Gone Too Soon

[ Masterweb Reports: Tribute By Rev. C. K. Ekeke, Ph.D. ] - “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose.” The Late Dr. Myles Munroe / “Leadership is the capacity to influence others through inspiration motivated by passion, generated by vision, produced by a conviction, ignited by a purpose.” The Late Dr. Myles Munroe

It is with heavy heart and deep sorrow; I pen this condolence message in honor of the late Dr. Myles Munroe, who perished on Sunday, November 9, 2014 along with his lovely wife, Ruth and adorable daughter, Charisa while flying in their private Learjet plane from Nassau to Freeport in Bahamas for their annual Global Leadership Forum which Dr. & Mrs. Myles Munroe host every year during the first week in November. Due to heavy down pour and bad weather, their private jet struck a shipping container crane in Freeport near the Grand Bahama International airport as it tried to land killing all nine persons on the plane, including Dr. Myles Munroe, his family members and his most senior church staff.

I cannot believe Dr. Myles Munroe is gone from this earth realm into the heavenly along with his lovely wife. He was only 60.  This is tragic, devastating news. I’m shocked and saddened. The planet has lost a global treasure and a legendary leadership teacher and mentor.

On behalf of my family and Leadership Wisdom Institute, I wish Munroe’s only surviving son and their church family (Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship) God’s strength and peace over the passing in glory of this eminent thinker, visionary, master teacher, and an author per excellence. Our hearts, sympathy, and condolences are with you and Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship over this shocking and incalculable loss. The Caribbean community, Africa and indeed the entire global community have lost one of God’s greatest gifts to our world.

The later Myles Munroe was the founder of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship ministries, and host of Global Leadership Forum and other leadership conferences in Bahamas and around the world. He has authored more than 100 inspirational books on Purpose, Potential, Kingdom, Faith, Prayer, Leadership, etc.

On one of his several visits to Nigeria, the international motivational speaker reechoed the lingering “trouble with Nigeria” and Africa as lack of leadership purpose. The renowned leadership teacher said that a “leadership purpose is revealed in whatever makes one angry.” He noted that “the trouble with Nigeria may be found in the context of people’s inability to do something about their anger wherever purpose is revealed. The leadership challenge in the continent he noted is because no one is angry enough or rather afraid to do something about their anger.”

As a passionate student of leadership – especially biblical leadership, I have had the opportunity to read many of the books written by the late Dr. Myles Munroe. I have met and sat on his conferences especially here in the U.S. I'm saddened by his demise but encouraged that the late Myles Munroe has left a great legacy. His books have brought great enlightenment, enriched and equipped millions of pastors and leaders throughout the world. In essence he fulfilled his purpose. He’ll remain a vital influence in my life as a leadership scholar and leader.

The late Myles Munroe was a true visionary, an original thinker, a great scholar, an international motivational speaker, master teacher, prominent preacher, insightful writer and author, godly father, husband and a mighty man of God. He was a man of dignity, honor, godly character and integrity. He was a brilliant scholar and intellectual giant. Myles Munroe was a literary giant, a prolific writer, an iconic figure and Bahamas’s pride. He was a rare human-being, a rare gem, a man of genuine righteousness and integrity. Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife were truly a gift of God to the Body of Christ and will be truly missed.

Job 1:21 says, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” May the LORD bless Myles Munroe and his lovely wife, Ruth and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24). Amen.

For the only surviving son, I pray God Almighty to encourage your heart and for you to know that your beloved ones have departed this earthly realm to be with the LORD in heaven.  They have entered into everlasting peace and glory where there are no more poverty, pain, sickness, and suffering. May God dry your tears and fill you and Bahamas Faith Ministries family with comfort during this time of grieve, sorrow, and sadness. May the Lord grant them eternal peace and give the bereaving family, church family, mentees, followers and admirers the fortitude to bear this incalculable and huge loss. May their souls rest in perpetual peace! Amen.

In his book, a ‘Call to Conscience,’ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote, “death is not a period that ends the great sentence of life but a comma that punctuates it to more loft significance.”
Myles Munroe and his works will live forever in our minds and hearts. Adieu my friend and mentor.

This life is a vapor and living is fleeting.

We bemoan today.

In deepest sympathy,
