NewsReel 3/2/15 - Gov Orji Commends State's Civil Service Commission for their Commitment

[ Masterweb Reports ] - Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has appreciated the Abia Civil Service Commission for the good job it is doing despite obvious constraints. The Governor who was receiving the chairman and members of the commission at the Executive Council chambers of the Government House, Umuahia, said he was aware of the problems confronting the commission including inadequate funding and accommodation.

He commended the commission for discharging its assignment creditably in spite of the difficulties it was facing, maintaining that he did not make any mistake in choosing them.

The Governor said his administration has not cancelled the idea of employing new workers into the civil service but did not want to run into problems by employing those it cannot pay and therefore decided to keep it on hold until finances improve.

He however assured that some of the candidates who bought forms from the
commission will be considered for employment.

The Governor stated that his primary constituency remains the civil service which he has done a lot for to make them proud.

Earlier, the chairman, Abia Civil Service Commission, Sir Samuel Iheke thanked the Governor for appointing them and for what he has done for Abia Civil Service including prompt and regular promotion and paying the highest minimum wage to workers in the country among others.

Iheke said the commission had been alive to its responsibilities as it has been correcting the ills in the service having brought down those wrongfully promoted and corrected those denied their rights and appealed for funds to carry out their assignment.
