BreakingNews 18/3/15 - Gov Orji Commissions Ochendo Liberation Estate

[ Masterweb Reports ] - Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji says he has shown passion to Abians by providing them comfortable and affordable accommodation. Governor Orji who stated this while commissioning the first phase of the Ochendo Liberation Estate Amauba in Umuahia South Local Government Area, said his government has done well in housing delivery for the people with the aim of helping people acquire their own houses.


According to him, his administration has achieved many housing estates including the Amaokwe, Isieke, and others which are on-going. Governor Orji said that apart from residential buildings, a lot has been achieved in the housing sector generally.


He stated that the Ochendo Liberation Estate is a partnership between government and Aso Investment and Development  company and thanked the Avodim people for donating their land to the government for development purposes.


The Governor used the forum to advise other communities to emulate them by donating their land as development can only be done on the land. He assured the Avodim community that his government will fulfill the promise of giving compensatory plots and C of O to them before he leaves office as well as a transformer. He urged interested persons to purchase the houses.


Earlier, the Commissioner for Housing, Prince KO Mgbahuru said the first phase of delivering 50 housing units of 30 units of 3-bedroom and 20 units of 2-bedroom has been achieved, adding that 400 housing units is planned to be executed in phases.


He said that the 3-bedroom  and 2-bedroom  housing units are highly subsidized to make them more affordable  for the civil servants as the 3-bedroom units go for N5m and the 2-bedroom sold at N4.5 m.


Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Engr. Nwabueze Onwuneme pointed out that by completing the project, the state government has reduced the housing deficit in the state and thanked the Aso Investment company and the host community for believing in the government.


The M.D of Aso Investment represented by Mrs. Omo Isoke stated that the project has created job and capacity building opportunities and thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity to invest in the state.
