BreakingNews 3/3/16 - Here Are Steps Nigeria`s Oil Minister Is Taking To Tackle Fuel Scarcity

[ Masterweb Reports: Busayo Samuel reports ] - Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum and Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has identified sharp practices by petroleum products depot operators as the major reason why Nigerians are going through hard times to get the indispensable products for their daily business activities.
 
 
The Minister who said operators in this segment of the supply chain of petroleum products sabotage government goodwill by selling at prices above N77/Litre approved for depots warned that severe sanctions would be meted out to culprits going forward.
 
 
According to the GMD of the NNPC, complaints of sharp practices by depot owners are daily received from marketers of petroleum products.
 
 
Dr. Kachikwu however assured of sufficient supply of premium motor spirit (petrol) as plans have been put in place to have a cargo of PMS delivered daily as from March 2016.
 
 
He disclosed that the NNPC took a delivery of four more cargoes of the product in the last weekend in February to keep the country wet.
 
 
He said the deliveries which amount to about 180 million litres are part of a new arrangement by the corporation to have a cargo of PMS delivered daily as from March.
