BreakingNews 5/3/16 - Nigeria: Northern traders boycott Lagos, Aba, Onitsha products over price

[ Masterweb Reports: Lami Sadiq reports ] – Traders in English wears, jewelleries and cosmetics from the 19 northern States and the FCT have agreed to boycott markets in Lagos, Aba in Abia and Onisha in Anambra states over what they described as the unprecedented inflation in price of old products by the traders in those States.
The Union of the affected traders in a press briefing held at the Jos New market stated that the decision was taken yesterday by union members from the FCT, Plateau, Gombe, Niger, Kaduna and Kano States.
Chairman of the Union in Jos, Abubakar Isa Muhammad said, “Once traders from these six states take a decision, it becomes binding on all the Northern States. We made this decision following weeks of consultations with our colleagues from other northern states and when we noticed that our suppliers in Aba, Onisha and Lagos were deliberately taunting us, we decided to boycott them.”
Muhammad and other members of the union said the markets in question sell old stock at exorbitant prices, and that the prices are raised every week.
