Meet Dotun Adebayo, The Most Successful Nigerian Broadcaster Ever in Britain

Dotun Adebayo (popularly known as Dotun),  most successful Nigerian broadcaster ever in Britain says after nearly fifty years in the UK, he is ready to come home to uplift Nigeria.  “There is nothing like home”, Dotun told Masterweb in an interview. He wants to contribute his quota to the growth of Nigeria as he had done abroad over the years. 52-year-old Dotun revolutionized and conquered the British book publishing industry with his company The X Press in 1992 with the bestseller Yardie and went on to publish other top-sellers such as “Baby Father” (one million copies sold), “'Cop Killer”,  “Wicked In Bed" and his current smash hit "Prisoner To The Streets".

In 2001 Dotun came onboard  BBC Radio 5 Live as presenter of the award winning global news magazine programme “Up All Night”. He currently holds this position, broadcasting four hours a night, four nights a week, making him the presenter with the most airtime on the station. "I represent 10 percent of the station's output. I have over a million listeners tuning in to me every night. Holding down a job like that for all this time hasn't been easy. I have had to deal with a lot of the racism and other prejudiced nonsense that we have to deal with over in the UK.",  Dotun commented in his interview with Masterweb. He said it is time to come home  and is inviting offers from any of the big news channels in Nigeria. “All I'm waiting for now is the right offer from Nigeria and I'll pack my bags and be on that first plane to Abuja or Lagos. Nigeria is the future, Britain is the past",  Dotun tells Nigerians.

Dotun in addition to being a presenter on BBC, also runs his own TV channel in the UK - Colourtelly, where he presents black-interest news. In  1999, he was invited to Buckingham Palace to meet Queen Elizabeth II; ten years later he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2009.
