BreakingNews 9/3/16 - Police Arrest Suspected Killer of Rivers State APC Chieftain

[ Masterweb Reports ] –  Rivers State Police Command announced on Tuesday it was in the custody of a man by name Anthony Ugoh suspected to be one of the gunmen in the murder of Franklin Obi, a Chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) at his residence in Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni  local government area of Rivers State.

Franklin Obi was killed last Saturday night around 9 pm alongside his wife, Iheoma and 18-year-old son, Bestman in their home on Rutachi Street in Omoku. The assailants beheaded Obi and left with the severed head while the daughter-Victory cried having witnessed the gruesome murder of her family.

Narrating amid tears how her family was brutally murdered, 16-year-old Victory said she and her brother were in their bedroom and heard gunshot and hid from where they peeped throw the curtain and saw the gunmen cutting off their father’s head. According to her: “Last night, I was inside when I heard my mum crying. We heard the sound of a gunshot and hid somewhere in the room. I opened the curtain of my room and I saw the men cutting off my father’s head. They then came to our room and ordered me and my brother to come out and as we were coming, my brother was moving slowly and they shot him. They then left with my father’s head.”

In a related development, the command arrested one Ndubuisi Tochi for allegedly killing Ofinjite Amachree, another APC Chieftain who was murdered in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the state. The State Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Command's headquarters in Port Harcourt. Kimo said that the killing of Amachree was a murder case and not from communal clash as peddled in some quarters. "Both suspects are now undergoing interrogations and giving us useful information that will ultimately lead to the arrest of their accomplices," Kimo said in a press statement.
