It Ended Quickly
(By Victor Igiri)

Life has travelled on the wings of time so fast
Of the road less travelled
The path
thin, tough and rough
Amidst bitter-sweet experiences,
Encircled in the web of faithful companions
and foes
Burned by the furious Northwest sun yet
We stood,
Firm and unshaken
not like ‘weaklings who ran at ‘genesis for fear
We are VICTOR’S.
Right here in the city of Rural wonder are memories,
black and white
all in loyalty to our Fatherland
we have learned the sweetness in diversity,
Nigeria we love
NYSC MUST LIVE!

The race is over
History is made-
Victory won
And before us
is the hidden reality of a new dawn of destiny
What next?

As my words unite
I hear joy bells ring-
‘Khaki will turn to SUITS
Jungle boots to SHOES
PPA to OFFICES/WORKPLACES
CDS to BOARD MEETINGS
Clearance slips to CHEQUES
Head count to JOB PRESENCE
Allowee to SALARIES/INCOME
and SPA to OTHER STREAMS OF INCOME

Till I return to dust
May I find no rest
Until my life
I live for service to humanity
Long Live NYSC
Long live Zamfara
Nigeria is ours,
Nigeria I serve.
