BreakingNews 20/6/16 - Buhari returns, says he is okay now

[ Masterweb Reports: Isiaka Wakili ] - President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja yesterday evening after his 10-day vacation in London. Buhari, who left for London on June 6 to treat a persistent ear infection, arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja yesterday at 5:35pm.
 
On arrival, he inspected a guard of honour and later spoke briefly to State House correspondents.  Asked about his health, the president said he was okay. He said journalists saw him when he was departing for London and they could now assess his health status themselves.
 

The delighted president asked the journalists to “wrestle” with him if they could.   He said: “You have seen me. You saw me when I was going. You can do the assessment yourself. I am okay. You can see me inspecting the guard of honour. You can see I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle with me, you can do so.”
 

His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, told journalists that Buhari was fit and would resume work today. He thanked Nigerians for their concern and asked those he described as “overdrive” to always have a positive mindset and not go to the worst case scenario about anybody’s health.
 

Adesina also restated that the president did not go on medical trip but that he only heeded the advice of his doctors to use the period of his vacation to see an E.N.T. specialist.
 

The chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, who was among those who received the president at the airport, said: “We thank God for bringing him (Buhari) back to his the country. It is a good thing he went on break and returned to his people hale and hearty.”
 

Also speaking, the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello said: “Our daddy is back. He had gone to take a rest we are happy that he is back.”
 

Among those who received the president were his Chief of Staff Abba Kyari, National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno, Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Olonishakin, Chief of Army Staff General Buratai as well as the Ministers of Health, Education, Transport, Niger Delta Affairs, Agriculture, Budget and National Planning, Justice, Interior.
