BreakingNews 22/7/16 - TMG tackles Buhari for snubbing youths over appointments

[ Masterweb Reports: Abbas Jimoh reports ] - The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) has berated President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for ignoring Nigerian youths in its national appointments.
The Chairman of TMG Comrade Ibrahim Zikirullahi at a state of the nation briefing told reporters on Friday in Abuja that it is unfair for President Muhammadu Buhari to neglect the youth constituency that largely contributed to his election victory.
“On Mr. President’s appointments, for us, merit should be the driving force for all appointments, and we know that every part of Nigeria has an abundance of first class brains, which if called upon would make sterling contributions to national development.
“Beyond the ethno-religious profiling of the President’s appointment however, TMG’s concern is that the President has neglected the very constituency which campaigned vigorously to get him elected in 2015. It is on record that the change that was effected in 2015 came from the energy, verve and commitment of the Nigerian youth. Using the power of social media, these youths managed to forge and enforce a consensus that it was time to give the President a chance.
“TMG therefore expects to see a sizable number of young people determining the direction of this administration. The youth have done their part by voting for change, it is up to the government, which won power on the strength of their vote to bring them into governance process. There is no doubt that there are many passionate young Nigerians who could be brought on board to offer fresh alternatives in the push to take Nigeria out of the woods,” Zikirullahi said.
He also urged the government to be decisive on the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and herdsmen assault on farmers and some rural communities across the country.
