BreakingNews 27/9/16: FG threatens legal action against Nigerian newspaper

[ Masterweb Reports: Ismail Mudashir reports ] - The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,  has threatened to sue the Independent Newspapers, publishers of the Daily Independent,  over a publication on the ‘Change begins with me’ campaign. The newspaper had in the publication dated  September 15, 2016 with the headline, “Change begins with me gulps N3.4bn”, accused the minister of plagiarism.
 
The minister in a letter to the publisher by his lawyers, Falana & Falana’s chambers, accused it of defaming his character through the publication.
 

He gave the newspaper a seven day notice to retract the publication or face legal action.
 

The minister also threatened to sue Messrs Akin Fadeyi and Omo Bazuaye over a statement circulated in some online   platforms on the campaign and gave the writers seven days to retract the story.
 

The letter which was also signed by Oludare Falana said the writers claimed that the minister stole the concept of the Change begins with me from them.
