BreakingNews 5/10/16 - Nigeria Presidential Jets for sale: What you need to know

[ Masterweb Reports: Richard P. Ngbokai reports ] - President Muhammadu Buhari has authorised the sale of two presidential aircraft. A falcon 7X and hawker 4000 aircraft belonging to the federal government of Nigeria are being offered for sale.

The Dassault Falcon 7X is a large-cabin, long range trijet manufactured by Dassault Aviation, the flagship offering of its business jet line. It was first presented to the public at the 2005 Paris Air Show.

The aircraft has over 200 orders to date. It has received its type certification from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on 27 April 2007.The first 7X, MSN05, entered service on 15 June 2007; the hundredth was delivered in November 2010.
In 2001, the Falcon 7X, at approximately $35 million (pre-production order price), was nearly $10 million cheaper than its nearest competitors in the long range, large cabin market segment, the Gulfstream G550 and Bombardier Global Express. Its 2007 cost was $41 million. As of 2008, the approximate unit cost of the 7X is $50 million (which was no longer less expensive than the Global Express, at $40M). It conducted high altitude airport tests at 14,500 ft in Daocheng in 2014.
The Falcon 7X is a three-engined cantilever monoplane with a low-positioned, high swept wing, it has a horizontal stabiliser at mid-height and a retractable tricycle landing gear. It has three rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney PW307A turbofan engines, two on the side of the fuselage and one in a center position. The long-range trijet has room for 20 passengers and two crew.
It is the first fully fly-by-wire business jet. It is also equipped with the same avionics suite, the Honeywell Primus Epic "Enhanced Avionics System" (EASy) that was used on the Falcon 900EX and later on the Falcon 2000EX.
The Falcon 7X is notable for its extensive use of computer-aided design, the manufacturer claiming it to be the "first aircraft to be designed entirely on a virtual platform", using Dassault Systemes' CATIA and PLM products.
The Hawker 4000, originally known as the Hawker Horizon, is a super-midsize business jet developed by Hawker Beechcraft (formerly Raytheon Aircraft Company).

Raytheon announced a new business jet in November 1996 as a larger aircraft than the existing Hawker 1000 that formed the top of Raytheon's jet range. The design, then known as the Hawker Horizon, was intended to fly in 1999, with certification and initial customer deliveries planned for 2001.

The first prototype made its maiden flight on August 11, 2001, with the second prototype and third prototypes making their maiden flights on May 10 and July 31, 2002. It made its public debut in November 2002 when a development aircraft was displayed at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention. As of March 2007 orders totaled more than 130 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin in June 2008. On December 2, 2005 NetJets signed an order for 50 of the new aircraft, the largest single commercial order in the history of Raytheon Aircraft.
The Hawker 4000 can be outfitted to seat ten people. The aircraft's carbon composite construction gives it more interior space than many jets in its class.Interior standing room is an average of six feet. This composite construction also makes the aircraft lighter than a standard aluminum structure, allowing a maximum range of 3,445 nautical miles, and a service ceiling of 45,000 feet (14,000 m). The flight deck features a Honeywell Primus Epic avionics suite with EICAS, FADEC and autothrottle.
