MasterwebNews 11/10/16 - EFCC arrests `Abia Governor` Ogah at Lagos Court

[ Masterweb Reports: Yahaya Ibrahim reports ] - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arrested Mr. Uche Ogah at the premises of a Magistrate Court in Lagos.  Ogah who was in June this declared winner of the Abia governorship election by a Federal High Court in Abuja and issued with a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was picked up by operatives of the EFCC when he was leaving the courtroom.  

 

The Special Fraud Unit of Nigeria Police had charged him and three others before the court over allegation of forgery. 
 

 

Ogah was in June 2016 arraigned before the court, alongside his oil company, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Limited, by a former staff of United Bank for Africa, Deji Somoye, and  Mut-Hass Petroleum Limited, on allegation of conspiracy and forgery.  
 

 

But when the case came up yesterday, the police announced withdrawal of the charge against him and others. The Prosecutor, Mr. Henri Obasi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), informed the court of Police intention to withdraw the charge against Ogah and others.  Upon the submission of the prosecutor, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Kikelomo Ayeye, struck out all the charges and discharged all the defendants.  

 

Drama however ensued immediately after he was discharged of the allegation as security operatives swooped on him.
