BreakingNews 23/9/16 - Many Ignore Biafra Sit-At-Home Protest

[ Masterweb Reports ] - It appears only Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State (MASSOB) members are complying with the sit-at-home protest order today by the groups as business activities remain the same across SouthEast and SouthSouth of Nigeria. Shops, schools, markets and banks are open and people are seen moving freely about their daily activities.

The pro-Biafra groups ordered a worldwide rally today to protest the continuous incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of one of IPOB factions by the Federal Government. In Nigeria they groups packaged the rally should take the form of sit-at-home and warned residents of the SouthEast and SouthSouth to stay at home in solidarity with Kanu. IPOB/MASSOB also threatened markets, banks and other institutions to shut down in observance of the sit-at-home protest. The protest is widely successful in countries outside Nigeria.

The Enugu State Police Command on Monday arrested 12 members of IPOB for threatening to deal with Ogbete market traders if they opened for business during the protest. Just immediately after the arrests, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary/Spokesman, Emma Powerful in a press statement said there was no backing down on the planned sit-at-home protest.
