BreakingNews 26/9/16 - Nigerian Italy-bound passenger caught with cocaine in the anus

[ Masterweb Reports: Abdullateef Aliyu reports ] - Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, have arrested two suspected drug traffickers found with wraps of narcotic drugs that tested positive for cocaine. The seizure, according to NDLEA spokesman, Ofoyeju Mitchel, weighed 485 grammes.
One of the suspects, Anazodo Innocent, was found to have inserted wraps of cocaine in his anus on his way to Italy while the second suspect concealed wraps of narcotics in the collar of his jacket on his way from Brazil.

NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport Ahmadu Garba explained that while Innocent, 46, was found with seven pellets of cocaine weighing 375 grams inserted in his anus, Agwu Samuel, 31, had ten pellets of cocaine weighing 110 grams concealed inside his jacket.

It was learnt that Samuel was arrested shortly after the suspect disembarked from the aircraft on his way from Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was the first time a suspect would hide cocaine in the collar of his jacket, the NDLEA said.

Garba stated that the two suspects were apprehended during routine check on passengers, adding that Agwu was nabbed during inward screening of passengers on a South Africa Airline flight from Brazil through Johannesburg while the second suspect, Anazodo, was caught during screening of passengers on a Royal Air Maroc flight going to Milan, Italy.

The suspects have owned up to the crime and are cooperating with investigators, the NDLEA said.

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, described the suspects’ actions as desperately crafty and cunning. He said the agency had taken some strategic measures aimed at uncovering the tricks employed by drug trafficking syndicates.

Samuel who sells shoes in Togo told investigators that he went to Brazil in search of greener pastures but resorted to drug trafficking due to frustration.
