BreakingNews 22/5/17: UN trains 35 Nigerians on aviation security

[ Masterweb Reports: Chris Agabi reports ] - The Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) and United Nations Counter Terrorism Centre (UNCTC) have trained 35 Nigerian aviation security Master Trainers in Abuja.


The effort was part of UN’s project to support efficient security screening across Nigeria’s civil aviation infrastructure.


The capacity-building project, which was co-founded by the British Government and Northern Island, was being implemented by UNCTC in partnership with Nigerian government.


Dr Jehangir Khan, Director, Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) said at the graduation ceremony that Nigeria is a long-standing partner in the United Nations counter-terrorism work.


He said the country was one of the early partners in the Integrated Assistance for Countering Terrorism (I-ACT) that brought the UN family together to provide ‘All-of-UN’ capacity building on counter-terrorism.


The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the Federal Government under was committed to equipping the nation’s aviation security (AVSEC) for optimum performance.
