BreakingNews 27/8/17 - Osinbajo disowns VON DG on medical tourism expenses

[ Masterweb Reports: Isiaka Wakili reports ] - Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday dissociated himself from a statement credited to the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, that medical tourism was draining Nigeria’s reserves.

Okechukwu had Thursday represented Osinbajo at the opening of a two-day national health dialogue jointly organised by the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism, the Project for Advocacy in Child and Family Health and the Project Pink Blue.

He had reportedly quoted Osinbajo as saying that medical tourism had cost Nigeria billions of dollars.

"We want to stop that trend because it is draining our reserves," he was reported to have said. But yesterday, a tweet by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, said the view was Okechukwu’s.
