[ Masterweb Reports ] - Campaign for Democracy, South-East Region in collaboration with Ogirishi Igbo Foundation has set-up machinery for a one-stop debate involving all candidates of political parties vying for the Anambra 2013 governorship election.

The debate, which had been scheduled to run between the months of September and October, would hold at the Rojenny Tourists and Games Village, Oba near Onitsha in Anambra.

Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Founder of Ogirishi Igbo Foundation, told newsmen on Tuesday that the debate would be developmental-issue based.

Ezeonwuka noted that the state needed front looking politicians that would continue at the pace and level of development Gov. Peter Obi had taken the state.

He said that it would aim at bring out the level of awareness the candidates on the challenges facing the state.

``And also how they plan to tackle these myriad of contentious challenges in the state such as unemployment, youth restiveness and crime especially kidnapping.

``We would also want to know their plans to improve on the Internally Generated Revenue of the state and other issues,’’ Ezeonwuka said.

Dede Uzor A Uzor, Chairman of CD, South-East Region, said that the whole concept was to deepen democratic tenants and make the electorate hold their public office holders to their words.

Uzor said that the days of bread-and-butter politics were over in Anambra; adding: ``Our people now want people with ideas and zeal to move the state and Nigeria forward.

``The debate would be covered by local, national and international media and each promise made by the candidates would be documented for record purposes.

``With the debate, candidates that know that they do not have anything to offer our people would be known as our people are not even after money-bags as it use to be previously,’’ Uzor noted.
