NewsReel 14/9/13 - Oduah, Chidoka commend Peter Obi's Government

 [ Masterweb Reports ] – The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah has described the return of schools to the Church by Governor Peter Obi administration as a fundamental initiative to recapture the core values of Ndigbo.  Princess Stella was speaking at the 2013, Sustainable Good Governance organized by League of Anambra Professional in collaboration with Anambra State government and values Recapture Summit in collaboration with Anambra State government at the Women Development Centre, Awka. 


The Minister represented by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. George Osi, noted that Governor Obi has raised the bar of governance through unique leadership style that has attracted a lot of commendation.  She explained that the return of schools to the mission would help to raise the moral tone in the society and check the erosion of the value system and emphasized that Igbo values were fundamental in promoting unity, hard work, socio-economic and political growth as well as enhance team spirit and interdependence and communal achievements.


Speaking at the event, the Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps, Chief Osita Chidioka identified love for money and unbridled quest for National resources as causes of value erosion and regretted that people without any known source of livelihood were today celebrated and honoured as opinion leaders and decision makers.


Chief Chidioka noted that Governor Obi has delivered on his promises and justified the mandate of the people though mass infrastructural development with quality road network crisscrossing all parts of the State. He said he knew Nigerian roads very well by the virtue of his position and that Anambra State under Governor Peter obi had the best network of good roads in the country. He urged Igbos to identify their areas of strength and jettison sources of their weakness as well as promote healthy competition and competence.


The Chairman on the occasion and former Presidential Adviser on Petroleum Matters, Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah said the Forum offered a platform to explore and reflect on the lives of the State, identify its shortcomings and proffer measures to re-launch the State on course to recover its lost glory.


Also speaking, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof. Chinyere Okunna explained that the State government was supporting the forum because the theme was in line with vision and aspiration of Governor Obi administration in trying to rekindle the spirit of the Governor in restoring the values Ndigbo are known for.  Prof. Okunna assured that necessary measures were being taking to ensure continuity of good governance beyond the tenure of Governor Obi.


The Acting President of LAP Mr Chike Nwegbe said the summit was for harnessing ideas to leverage versed talents, skill and knowledge that would assist in building progressive societies as the State was endowed with abundant human and material resources.  Mr. Nwegbe explained that outcome of the dialogue would help to restore the values that would drive good governance and solid economic growth that would reduce poverty.


In his own remarks, Gov. Obi said that all hands must be on deck for the rebuilding of the State along ennobling paths.
