BreakingNews 18/1/2014 - Renovated Embassy Buildings, Bianca's New Year Gift To Nigerian Community In Spain

[ Masterweb Reports: Uchendu Precious Onuoha reports ] – Her Excellency, Bianca Olivia Odumegwu Ojukwu, the action and dynamic Nigerian Ambassador to the kingdom of Spain, rounded off her series and strides of achievements to the improvement of the lives and lots of Nigerians in Spain by the inauguration and presentation of the renovated dilapidated edifice of the embassy of Nigeria in Spain, strategically located near the towering Real Madrid FC Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Also renovated is the chancery house. These buildings were in dilapidated conditions and in a state not befitting to Nigeria’s status in the International scene before Ambassador Bianca took over. The embassy house now stands out glittering among the buildings located in that area. The buildings which are now bearing new looks, attracted the presence of the visiting first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan who was on ground to inaugurate the buildings on December 31, 2013.
 
 
The event attracted leaders and members of the various Nigerian associations in Spain, Ambassadors of various countries, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives from the host country Spain. Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Patience Goodluck used the opportunity to commend the efforts of the dynamic leadership of the Ambassador, Bianca Ojukwu to Nigerians in Spain. The Ambassador also used the occasion to ask the first lady to talk to the audience about the African First Ladies Peace Mission, a newly formed organization spearheaded by the Nigerian first lady. Speaking on that, the first lady highlighted that the main objective of the organization, is to be used as a medium to broker peace among heads of Governments and their deputies, and other warring factions. She reiterated that peace is better brokered in peace times than in war situations, hence the objective of the organization is to strive to nip on bud problems before they develop or escalate into conflicts.
 
 
Also, the Gambian Ambassador, Mr. Lang Yabou who spoke on behalf of the African ambassadors in the occasion said, he considered himself as the youngest African ambassador and a co- Nigerian Ambassador in the kingdom of Spain. Considering his versatile knowledge of Nigeria and the mutual relationship that exists between his country and Nigeria, especially during his tenure in Nigeria as Ambassador and even now, he used the opportunity to express his love for the people of Nigeria. And further emphasized that Nigeria is a great country, but unknown to many Nigerians what they have. He stated that for diplomats, Nigeria is one of the best place to serve as an Ambassador. And that many diplomats don’t like to leave Nigeria after their tenure expires. He mentioned an incident where a country’s former ambassador to Nigeria rather than leave Nigeria when his tenure expired, choose to become a deputy ambassador as to remain in Nigeria. He stated that Nigeria as a big brother has always been there for Africa. Therefore, African Ambassadors in Spain are with Nigerian embassy. The erudite Ambassador eulogized the achievements of the Nigerian Ambassador in Spain, stating that it is a symbol of Nigeria in Spain and Africa in general.
 
 
According to our correspondent, this inauguration is the hallmark of numerous commendable achievements Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu has made to the welfare and benefit of Nigerians in Spain during the short period she has piloted affairs at the embassy. And it is the wish and prayer of all well-meaning Nigerians in Spain that God may grant her the strength and vision to continue in the good works she is doing. As she is the best thing that has happened to Nigerians living in the kingdom of Spain in recent times and to the Nigerian Nation in the future. God bless, Bianca, God bless Nigeria.
