NewsReel 10/8/14 - We are proud of Chike Offodile -Obi

[ Masterweb Reports ] - The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has described the death of Chief Chike Offodile as one of those transitions that call for celebration and not mourning. He said this yesterday while reacting to the death of Offodile, who was a former Federal  Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Brooding over his death,  which he said he received with shock, Obi  said that all death hurts because of the reality of separation from the one we loved, celebrated or taken as a role model. He maintained that  Offodile's death always presented the country the hard fact of the depleting stock of men that possessed ennobling qualities and really showed genuine love for the country and contributed meaningfully to her growth.

He explained that   the passing on of people like Offodile, who contributed to the growth and development of his town as an Onowu, his State through his wise counsel and  country, which he served through many ways, including being a former Federal Attorney General and who lived  to the grand old age of 92 was a lesson to all of us on the need to live purposeful lives that would enrich humanity. "Even at his age, he continued to come to the meeting of the Elders' Council with the Obi of Onitsha. When I was impeached, he was one of those that kept encouraging me while I challenged the aberration in courts", Obi said.

Further, the former Governor consoled the Offodile family; the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Nigerian Bar Association for the lost of a very senior colleague and prayed for the repose of his soul.
