NewsReel 2/10/14 - Gov Orji Expresses Shock over Remi Oyo's Death

[ Masterweb Reports ] - Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has expressed shock over the death of a former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mrs. Remi Oyo.



The former President, Nigerian Guild of Editors, died on October 1, at a United Kingdom hospital where she was receiving treatment for a cancer related ailment. She was aged 61.



Governor Orji in a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, described Oyo's death as a big loss to the country.



The Governor who said he received news of the former NAN's boss with rude shock said Nigeria has lost a rare gem whose contributions to national development and in the field of journalism were very outstanding.



According to the release, the former Special Assistant to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, will always be missed because of her commitment to duty and handwork which distinguished her among her contemporaries.



Governor Orji said the veteran journalist who would always be remembered for revolutionalising NAN died at the prime of life when her services and contributions to nation building were most needed.



He therefore, consoled members of her immediate family, state, the country and all those affected directly or indirectly by her death to take solace in the fact that she died a committed Christian.



Orji prayed God to grant her soul eternal repose in His kingdom.
