[ Masterweb Reports ] - Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has congratulated Mr. John Chijioke Emejor for emerging the new state chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the just concluded triennial delegates conference of the union in Umuahia.

Mr. Emejor, a Director in the Ministry of Information and Strategy polled 73 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Uzoma Isiakpu also a Director of Information who got 29 votes.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, the Governor also congratulated other executives of the state council for emerging victorious in the election and appreciated journalists in the state for conducting the election in a peaceful and congenial atmosphere.



He charged the new chairman to galvanize journalists in the state and chart a new course to propel the union on the path of greater progress. The Governor assured the NUJ in the state of the continued partnership of his administration and implored journalists in the state to continue to discharge their functions objectively.
