Renshaw cell axons terminate on the body or dendrites of the motor neuron, forming inhibitory synapses. Arousal that occurs in motor neurons travel in a straight path to the skeletal muscle, as well as collaterals to inhibitory neurons, which send impulses to motoneurons and inhibits them. The stronger the motor neuron excitation, the more excited Renshaw cells and the more intense they exert their inhibitory effect, which protects nerve cells from overstimulation. lateral inhibition

NewsReel 27/6/14 - The Characteristics of An Excellent Christian

[ Masterweb Reports: Evangelist Chi Benedicta Okonkwo reports ] - When we say something is excellent, it means that it is good in itself and there is no evil complaint about it. It also means that it is so good that it is not to be improved upon. This is the definition of the excellent Christian. An excellent Christian is a Christian that is without blemish. There are different categories of Christians. There are those who have been saved but not sanctified. These ones easily get annoyed. They cannot be described as excellent Christians. Some Christians are saved and sanctified. These ones do not get annoyed. It is good to be saved and be totally sanctified.

However, without the power of the Holy Spirit, even if you are saved and sanctified, you may still have limitations especially in fighting spiritual battles. Evil forces may overpower you if there were to be any encounter. However, God will not allow you to die.

To become an excellent Christian, you must first and foremost be Holy Spirit filled.
As an individual, when you get to this stage, you better off than somebody who, though, saved and sanctified, has not got the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is indispensable in the Life of any Christian. Without the Holy Spirit, it is not possible to have any of the different gifts that the Holy Spirit gives. Among these gifts are:

. The gift of wisdom and understanding.
. The gift of faith.
. The gift of healing.
. The gift of working miracles.
. The gift of prophecy.

When you have these gifts, you are on your way to becoming an excellent Christian.

Secondly, for one to be an excellent Christian, three things must manifest in one’s life. First, all things have to be done according to how God Himself would do them. You must aspire to please God in all that you do. Before doing anything, no matter how trivial, first ask how you think God would do it. Knowing fully well that God can only do things perfectly, you will see to it that it is perfectly done. This will definitely please God.

The Bible tells us that everything that God created is good ( Genesis 1: 31). Nothing created by God needs further amendment. Everything is so perfect that no one can improve on them anymore.

Second, an excellent Christian will aspire to get to where God wants him to reach. He will never stop or rest until God’s purpose for his or her life is accomplished. Many
Christians backslide because they had at a time thought that their positions were the highest spiritual height they could attain and as a result, they became contented and stopped striving higher.

Third, an excellent Christian will be perfect as the Lord Almighty is perfect. Matthew 5:48 says:

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect..

We must be perfect as our God is perfect. He is perfect in all ways- in love, knowledge, wisdom, understanding and might. Whatever He says will come to pass.
This is to say that we would be partners with God such that whatever we say becomes a decree. God made the promise in His word when He said whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven (Matthew 18:18).

Furthermore, praise is an important aspect of the life of an excellent Christian. 1 Kings 3:3-4 say:

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

This passage says Solomon loved the Lord. I love the Lord too. May the Lord give me the grace to love Him more. Solomon showed his love of God by offering sacrifices unto Him. Any Christian that wants to be an excellent Christian would continually offer sacrifices unto God. What type of sacrifices? Is it money or food? The Lord does not spend money and neither does He eat food. When people contribute money to build a church, who sits in the church? Is it God? The people sit inside the church. Yet, God will still bless them for building the church.
The offering that goes directly to God is the sacrifice of praise. Hebrews 13:15 says:

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God
continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Excellent Christians are conspicuously noted for praising God always.
Jesus delights in the praises of His people. All are privileged to praise Him. As for me, I will praise my God.

Start praising God and discover how near He is to you. God normally visits those who praise Him. 1 Kings 3: 5 says:

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

After Solomon had offered sacrifices unto God, He appeared to him in his dream. God asked him to ask for whatever he desired.

How many of us have been visited by God in our dreams? God wants to visit you. Many of us have not learnt how to usher in the Almighty God with praises. You can attempt to stop asking God for anything and just keep on praising Him for at least one month and you would be amazed at the result. He will not only pay you a visit. I am sure He is going to ask you to request for anything you need .God does not only visit. He blesses as well. Solomon had been fellowshipping with God right from the day one before God got to him at night. Imagine a thousand burnt offerings.

Similarly, you would spend a considerable length of time in saying, ‘ Thank you’, a thousand times. By so doing, you are offering unto God praise offering which is acceptable to Him.
