Renshaw cell axons terminate on the body or dendrites of the motor neuron, forming inhibitory synapses. Arousal that occurs in motor neurons travel in a straight path to the skeletal muscle, as well as collaterals to inhibitory neurons, which send impulses to motoneurons and inhibits them. The stronger the motor neuron excitation, the more excited Renshaw cells and the more intense they exert their inhibitory effect, which protects nerve cells from overstimulation. lateral inhibition

NewsReel 27/9/14 - Gov. Orji Swears-in New Ag Chief Judge

[ Masterweb Reports: From Abia State ] - A new Ag Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, has been sworn-in to steer the Abia State judiciary for the next three months.

She is taking over from the former CJ, Justice Nnenna Oti who has retired from service, and acted in that capacity before under the present dispensation.

In his speech at the ceremony at the Executive Council chamber, Government House,  Umuahia,  Governor Theodore orji ,said  that nature abhors vacuum, adding that the 1999 Constitution stipulates that in the event of vacancy,  the most senior judge should act as Chief Judge for a period of three months while the Governor,  the state House of Assembly, the Judicial Service Commission and the National Judicial Council (NJC) is vested with the power of appointing an acting or substantive Chief Judge.

He regretted that the relationship between the executive and the judiciary during the tenure of the last Chief Judge was not cordial and advised the new Ag CJ not to tow that line but rather to show example.

Responding, the new Ag Chief Judge,  Justice Theresa Uzokwe thanked the Governor for the honor done her and for having a good working relationship with the judiciary and pledged to carry judges and the staff of the judiciary along.
