NewsReel 8/10/14 - Abia PDP Blasts APC Chieftain over Derogatory Remarks on Orji

[ Masterweb Reports: From Abia State ] - The Abia State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), has lampooned a chieftain of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Okey Nwagbara over an alleged derogatory remarks on Governor Theodore Orji.

Nwagbara who is the APC Zonal Chairman for Abia Central, had allegedly described the recent National Honours Award bestowed on Governor  Orji "as an insult to Abia  people, especially those residing in the abandoned city of Aba."

In a press statement issued by PDP and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chef Uchechi Ogbuka, the party described the APC chieftain as "a confused political desperado looking for relevance."

According to PDP, Nwagbara only resorted to media attacks on the Governor as a means of achieving cheap popularity as "he has since lost political steam to command any attention in the state."

PDP also accused Nwagbara and his party (APC) of sponsoring cheap blackmails against the state government in their desperation to gain recognition ahead of the 2015 polls, but added that " their strategy is belated as all Abians are aware of their antecedents."

According to PDP, the award on Governor Orji is "a federal endorsement and testimonial of his giant strides which have since changed the face of Abia State."

PDP said "it is only the likes of Nwagbara that will not see the wave of
multi-sectoral transformation currently pervading the Abia landscape", insisting that the award on Governor Orji is "well deserved and cannot be disputed except by detractors like Nwagbara and his sinking APC."

The statement read in part: "The legacy projects of the PDP-led administration of Governor Orji are identifiable and incontrovertible as they are there for all to see. Never in the history of Abia State have the people witnessed the quantum of legacy projects as Orji's government has already posted ever since he liberated Abia from the shackles of political servitude.

"Today, it is on record that Orji is the first Governor to build a government house in Abia; the first Governor to build a befitting secretariat for Abia workers; the first to empower over 3000 youths with vehicles free of charge and still counting; the first to build diagnostic hospital and renal centre; the first to lay solid transformation for Abia's development."

PDP therefore, warned members of the opposition to show respect for the office of the Governor even if they disagree with the policies of the occupant of the exalted seat.

The party also boasted that it would maintain its grip in the state come 2015 elections, dismissing threats by the opposition to dislodge PDP in the upcoming polls as "empty noise that lacks substance."

According to PDP, the out- standing records of Governor Orji will be a
walk over for the party in 2015 .
