Workers of the newly privatized Skypower Aviation Handling Company(SAHCOL) are to get their severance benefits very soon. This assurance was given by the new owner of the company, Skyway Handling Company and HR Consulting, during a meeting 3 December, 2009, held with representatives of Air Transport Service Senior Staff Association of Nigeria(ATSSSAN), National Union of Air Transport Employees(NUATE), current Management of SAHCOL and other stakeholders in Abuja.
To ensure timely payment of the workers benefit package, the company assigned the responsibility-HR Consulting, through its representative, Mr A.Olofin, informed the meeting that all steps had been taken to affect payment as scheduled and agreed upon by all parties at an earlier meeting with the Trade Unions and SAHCOL Management. He said it would include payment of gratuity, pension pay off, payment in lieu of notice, reparation, accrued/unutilized leave, outstanding salary increment, outstanding pension and severance pay-off.

To fast-track the payments, a team was also put in place to verify the computation of the severance benefits in the office of the liquidator-Babinton Ashaye & Co which would then pave the way for the disbursement of payment to beneficiaries.
The meeting held in the conference room of the Bureau of Public Enterprises with the Director General, Dr Christopher Anyanwu in attendance, was headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation/Chairman of SAHCOL Board. Others in attendance included representatives of ATSSSAN and those of the National Union of Air Transport Employees(NUATE).
