*Nigeria: Akunyili’s Memo, FEC & The Presidency

By Nwaorgu Faustinus Chilee

The way Nigeria ship of political destiny is sailing since the absence of Mallam Musa Yar’ Adua as a result of his ill health of which he went to Saudi Arabia to attend to, has continued to agitate my whole being following the hullabaloo in and around the rank and file of the political heavy weights. While a few patriotic Nigerians have stood up to be reckoned with in the political history of this forced marriage and entity called Nigeria, by asking President Umar Musa Yar’ Adua to allow the Vice President to be acting as the President of Nigeria, pending when he (Umar Musa Yar, Adua) recuperates fully well or if need be hand over power completely to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, some mischievous political faggots, albatross, squandermeniac , whose stock in trade is to truncate our dear invaluable democracy for their parochial and selfish interest to the detriment of the citizens of this country and foreign nationals have continued to their hide and seek game with fate of this nation ( Continues below….. )

This is what I consider as the ultimate disservice any politician whether elected or appointed could extend to us all. The happenings in this country at present is a good enough reason for the khaki boys to usurp administration of this nation. But God should not allow it to be, because many have argued that the worst civil rule is better than that of the military. I still want to urge the present crop of military men and women to tolerate the politicians and the political logjam and quagmire which those at the corridors of power have immersed us in while patiently waiting for its resolution till only God knows when.

The likes of Minister of Information and communication should be commended, though for their belated demonstration of good will and rationalism, following her presentation of memo to the FEC which has continued to generate mixed reactions. While others have commended her dogged stance as regards the presentation of the memo which will allow Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to assume the full authority of the President, some unprogressive have surreptitiously and overtly pitched their tents against her by calling for her resignation. While others see her action as betrayal of trust, I am moved to ask; shall we continue to sin so that grace may abound? You answer is as good as mine. At the age of almost 50 years, this nation is to big for a few individuals or cabal who have no meaningful contributions to make, except to line their bottomless infested pocket and to hold the nation to ransom. ( Continues below….. )

My advice to the Minister of Information and Communication is that, she should not retract whatsoever she must have said pertaining to the memo and if the worse comes, she should take the path of honour and morality according to OBJ. I therefore urge all to ask for that which is right to be honestly followed.

For the FEC, Hon. Dora Akunyili, the presidency, National House Assembly, civil rights activists, etc the right or wrong decisions we make today, whether morally right or wrong, will surely affect us and generations yet to come positively or negatively. Toe the right path to save Nigeria from further international disgrace and shame, chaos or military take over by swearing in Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as the acting President with unhindered presidential powers.

May God bless this good people and great or intractable nation, Nigeria.

Thank God that an Acting President has eventually emerged and the Government of Federal Republic of Nigeria will run smoothly courtesy of our indefatigable real Prof. Dora Akunyili. However it is time we call a spade a spade in this country. If a few so called kitchen cabinet could hold us to a stand still, then which way Nigerians. Does this confirm that they are Nigerians while we are ordinary Nigerians?

i must say this now Justice delayed is Justice Denied.I must be frank with you, ladies and gentlemen, when i say that Dr.Dora Akunyili actually may have an ulterior motive. It is plain to see.Why wait for that long before coming out with the declaration? The mindless psychophants aside, she is one of the few Nigerians i personally had a lot of high regards for but why did she wait for so long before stating the obvious? Is she trying to tell us something as regards the status of the Presidents Health? Is she trying to ensure she still has a safe haven in Aso Rock and put herself in good stead with Jonathan Goodluck?I will choose not to comment because i honestly believe that we haven't seen or heard the last of this.congrats to our new acting president,Act well o...who knows we may nominate you for a Gloden Globe award for the best Actor in running a country.God help Nigeria and save us from ourselves.

In time like this, we need "men" who will stand out speak the truth. Its so so sad that this great country is still be held boud by some uncrupulous few who has "cabalized' our political and econonic sector in their own selfish interest.
But one thing is certain, in all their wittiness, the masses are becoming more enlightened. Thank God for the information minister for taking the bull by the horn

Well, I am not surprise that the likes of Mrs rebrand will come out openly to say Goodluck shoud be given the opportunity to assume the full powers of the president, even though, the same Goodluck has commanded the military to step into Jos; has been approving contracts worth billions of naira and chairing FEC meetings. Rebrand woman is looking for relevance! Why not? To her and many others, their master, Umaru Musa is no longer relevant. To some of them, he is not coming back to resume his duty as they have already prophesised his death. As for Andaako, or what is his name? I mean the former justice minister, who wanted to remain loyal to his actual master, we have all seen how he was relegated to a ceremonial minister without adequate portfolio. Soon he will be droped from the carbinet. THAT WAS THE PRICE HE DESERVES. Next on the line would be Abba Ruma, Rilwanu Luqman, etc. I ve no problem with the palace coup and Obasanjo's indirect return to power. My concern is whether Umaru Musa, Turai (the iron lady) and her children have learnt good lesson from this or not!

This is a state of no visitor, anyone can get ill anytime and that of the president is not an excuse because he is not God. So what all Nigerian should do is to pray for him and also let the Vice take over as it has been now since yesterday because Nigeria is a big country and it need a pilot at any given time.

Nigerians still have a lot to learn. They have to understand the reason for the consitution of a nation. They have to know that the law of the land should always be "the rule of law". May be the elites will wake up one day to do the right thing for now and the future generations. My advise is, "prevent the recurrence of this scenario".

It is very unfortunate to see that many of law makers are still living in the dark age.
Why did we have vice president? if the vice president can not assume power in the absense of the president?
Why did the president needs to transfer power to the vice before he can act on his absense?.
The section 145 or clause 145 whatever its called showed that despite Nigeria is one of the country with most highest professor in any field, with uncountable doctorate degree in law in the worldstill lack basic understanding of constitutional administration. this is a shame.
In my own opinion, that section 145 should be removed from our constitution to pave way for smooth running of the government.
Thanks to some wise elders who believed that this country belongs to every one not some few previledges . God bless Nigeria.

Bravo to Dora Akunyili for her recent courage in her memo to FEC, but while so late? Many Nigerians have been aggrieved all these while, when she and other members of the FEC kept the truth on our President's condition in a dark cupboard tightly locked up.
I must be very precise that the job of information minister in this political set up is not an ideal job for a person like Dora Akunyili. Being a mouth piece of an irresponsible regime who projects falsehood in the name of politics must affect one's moral stands. Anyway, Jonathan Goodluck is the acting President and I wish him well, and at the same time warn him against the biblical yeast of his political family, many of them are irresponsible, sycophants and corrupt.

I congratulate the man called Goodluck Jonathan, who is favored from his birth. You have become the acting President of our troubled nation. What will you do now? I advice, you seek God's wisdom in order to live up to this challenging task. You will fail if you seek the wisdom from your political family members who are selfish and mere sycophants, always with a wisdom of men.
This new position of Goodluck Jonathan is a test from God, to know if those who have been marginalized in the politics of our nation could paddle this ship of governance better. His Excellency, the Acting President of Nigeria, Sir, please make the south- south and the entire East proud in your exemplary leadership built on truth. God bless Nigeria, God Bless GoodLuck Jonathan our President.

I wish to ask the Acting President to hasten the passage of FOI bill and the amendment of Nigerian constitution. Also I want the Acting President to press on making the INEC to be completely independent to ensure a credible election in 2011.
The Acting President should not forget that Nigeria is listed as a terrorist state along side the notorious Pakistan and many Arab nations. He must take on that matter and make sure Nigeria's name is removed from such list.

I will keep the Acting President in prayer to make visible positive changes in his new capacity. History would never forgive our acting president if he blew up this noble chance of turning this nation around. God Bless Nigeria.

well first and foremost i thank God almighty for touching the hearts of those in power to have a re-think and a change of mind cos all this while nigerias have been sheep without shepherd and nigeria as a country stagnated but now we have cause to be happy for we can drink water and keep cup once again all thanks to God almighty. To our new shepherd Goodluck Ebelechukwu Jonathan, you are a child of destiny and i'm urging you to live up to your destiny, at your quiet time take a very deep look at the circumstances/mystery surrounding your political life from classroom to deputy Gov. to Gov. from there to V.P and now Acting President you will see God's hand in your life, if you fail to be the Joshua of nigeria i think you have to answer God who destined you and not to nigerians cos its between you and God almighty. Dont allow yourself to be use by sycophants and bootlickers because you will take the blame alone. Always remember that nigerians, international bodies are watching to see if you can paddle this canoe that is entrusted to you, dont disappoint yourself and those that believe in you and Always remember that your father, mother or anybody can fail you but God almighty can never fail you so call on Him when you are confused. I wish you your name 'Goodluck' , God's guidance and mercy as you travel through this mysterious road that is full of the unknown.

It is very sad that inspite of all we have gone thru as a nation, we have not learnt anything yet. Only in the recent past, the military held sway for over 2 decades as a result of the recklessness of our politicians. Quite frankly, i do not blame the sick Yar'adua, instead i blame those very greedy and mindless politicians for urging him on. Yar'adua, we all know is a sick man. Apart from his physical illhealth, he has an emotional, psychological and even spiritual sickness. Naturally, he cannot think straight. As for Prof Dora Akunyili, I thank God she has found her lost voice again. This woman almost rubbished her life-time acheivement at NAFDAC. She almost sold herself to the devil all in the name of defending her "sick Boss". Now she has repented and for the gutts to stand up to political miscreants and layabouts like Aandoakaa or whatever his name is, I commend her and serious warn her to never allow the respect she has earned through hard work be rubbished again. Watch it Prof or u will be sorry.
