*Turai: Don’t leave Aso Rock In Shame

By Ihejirika Peter

It is said that those their gods kneaded Fufu for, should eat it in silence. Such could be said of the first family of this nation. Hence going by the array of contestants in the 2007 Presidential election Yar’ Adua would not have been the best option. But for the entire wisdom of Obasanjo, PDP and some of their cohorts who made it possible for him to win the election. Well, everything surrounding the 2007 election is now history though Nigerians can never forget in a hurry. If not the ruse called 2007 Presidential election we would not have been in the mess we are today. President Yar’ Adua mounted the saddle of leadership almost three years ago and since then he has been sick. It would be recalled that mid way into the 2007 Presidential election he broke down and was flown to Germany for medical attention which prompted the then President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, to humorously ask “…….Umoru are you dead………?” but in all Yar Adua succeeded and has been piloting the affairs of this great nation as President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces until 23rd of November, 2009 when he was hurriedly sneaked out of the country on health grounds. Since then, things have fallen apart and nobody expected the center to hold. ( Continues below….. )

I am not among those who wish the President dead, nor those who are canvassing for his removal due to illness hence Yar’ Adua is a mortal and every mortal being is prone to one ailment or the other at any given time. But my point of departure is the way and manner which the President’s ailment has been politicized by individuals or groups for their self-aggrandizement. Left for me, I would not have wasted an effort to write but for posterity to vindicate me as it was Wole Soyinka who says “.……..the man died who keeps quiet in the face of tyranny…….”. So, those of us who do not go by the barrage of gun should muster as fast as possible all the arsenal in our disposal to condemn in strong terms the near anarchy the country is drifting into. Sentiment apart, if you do not know for the past three months now the country is sitting on a keg of gunpowder, you better think twice and pray fervently for God to bring the final solution to this political logjam. As what is happening in country today is an ill wind that blows no one good. This political debacle is now becoming obvious that an overambitious woman has sworn not to let the country be. A situation whereby our President has been ill and our representatives have been denied access to him. Even the thoughtful effort of the Federal Executive Council to swear in Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as an “Acting” President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces has been flagrantly played down. Hence the purported arrival of the president and subsequent deployment of troops was not known by the acting president who is supposed to welcome the ill president back home. ( Continues below….. )

Nigeria's Ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua

Well I am not against the abracadabra but my own concern is this nation. Turai Yar’ Adua and people behind her should know that power belongs only to God and nobody does the contrary. Even if they have succeeded in deceiving the people for the past three months it cannot be ad-infinitum. Very soon the cat would be let out of the bag. I remember when the former President, Chief OBJ advised that Yar’ Adua should toe the path honour and resign if he is incapacitated many agents of destabilization called for his head but now the truth is playing out and very soon all these agents of darkness who are bent on fast tracking the United States of American intelligent reports of a possible disintegration of this country by 2015 will unmask themselves. We will not be surprised that our tormentors are from our own kitchen. And anybody who thinks that the country belongs to him or that a section of this country could be seen as second-class citizens is doing so at his own peril. The first lady of this nation should know that her predecessors have come and gone and are remembered for one good thing or the other. She should toe that line of honour and work for the unity and indivisibility of this nation while we pray for the quick recovery of our President. But if she decides to play the pharaoh our time, she might leave the Aso Rock in shame or tears. God forbid! Advice they say, no be curse.

I wrote two weeks ago to say that President Yar'Adua as an individual is a nice person and no one with good conscience like Peter will wish him evil. I share the writer's view that Turai should not leave Aso Rock in shame. It is said that "Those the gods want to destroy, they first make them mad." This is the case with the First Lady who is not tired of her Jezebel-like schemings. I read about another "Zubaru" who claim that he is now the spoke-person of the family. Where has this human being been since the Country went close to the verge of collapse? How much has been paid to him to play a liar by the deceitful cabal and Turai? For every role played by evil-minded persons in the present political logjam and scenerio, they shall pay with their blood in due course.

Peter, your concerns for our dear president and advice for "his" wife - Turai, are well founded. I want to let us know that Turai and her cohorts have abducted our president and held him under seige for more than 100days, for reasons best known to them. But I believe that they want to systematically snuff life out of Umaru Yar'Adua. We should not forget easily how, in very recent past, some prominent Nigerians had been eliminated under questionable circumstances akin to what we are withnessing today in respect of Mr. president and his purported ill health. The president's elder brother, Shehu Yar'Adua died in Abakaliki prison after a visit by some close allies, Abiola passed on after he drank a cup of "tea" offered him by trusted friends, even Abacha tasted some apple fruits and bed his farewell. Maybe, Mr President is not even ill as we are meant to believe. It could be an albi to protect themselves against the law when they eventually break the news of the success of their sinister plan. But I want to remind Turai that a woman who decides to lead an early morning onslaught, in place of her husband, must surely be confronted by those hideous spirits awaiting the man in the dark. Security agents and intelligence officers should wake up to their responsibilty and unravel the motive(s) behind the actions of Turai and her cabal. I think it is beyond what an ordinary eye can see. The mother of Mr President cannot have access to her son, and no Nigerian except Turai has seen Umaru Yar'Adua since 23rd November 2009.

i deem it necessary as a bonafied citizen of the federal Rep. of Nigeria to speak out although i am not a lawyer, can some body please tell me the right Mrs. Turai Yar’Adua (the wife of President Yar’Adua) and those behind her, has to hold Yar’Adua President and Commander-In-Chief of the Great Federal Republic of Nigeria hostage?, from my own point of view i think this is an hostage for not allowing any body to see our own President even depriving the president's mother from see her son.

This is a slap on our face and yet nothing is been done, those who call themselves executive/senate members of the nation should see themselves as bounch of fools and they should know that they are just there for the finacial aspect only.. we are talking of the number 1 citizen of the country.....

Turai why do you quest for power in the espence of your husbands life, you can niether be president nor vice. So it is more advisable to vacate the Aso rock in a more masure way than getting out in shame

Turai is not bigger than Nigeria, after all she is no more the first lady of the country until when yar'adua assumes full duty. She can be ejected from her so-called family house in the Aso-Rock. She is just like any other citizen of this country where i belong. How can she prevent the whole nigerians from seeing their president and we keep quiet over it. what is the so-called elderstatemen of nigeria doing to avert this shameful situation. why should a woman make nonsense of a big country like nigeria and we keep silent?

Turai is not the president of Nigeria nor the vice president who she takes her self to be. she is just a mere woman as i am. She was the first lady of the country until 23rd November, 2009 which she ceased to be when the president became somehow incapacitated. Can she tell us why even the top class citizens could not have access to their president?

I though that this first lady is a human-bieng, how can she love power more than her husband. I pray that God will give Mr. Yar'dua the wisdom to leave Aso-Rock peacefully, before it is too late. At least, they have children, Madam Turaican remain the first lady of their family.

Turai is a woman and her constitutional role for now is to tend to her ailing husband.
she has no constutitional role in Nigerian constitution. Her cohorts are just time wasters. no group or individual is greater than nigeria. The blood of her husbands death will be upon her should that happen. But God forbid.

Turai can't love her husband more than the entire country put together hence our votes got him the job. No single Nigerian at home or abroad voted for Turai therefore she should not make herself Queen or lord over Nigeria(ns) at will. Those deceiving us thinking that they are trying to keep Nigeria together are ignorantly working towards breaking the country. The earlier the truth is known and constitutional role of individual is defined (as defined in the constitution which binds us togerther) the better for everyone. The legislative and judicial arms of our government should stand up to uphold the constitution they sworn to. May God help us all

It is unfortunate and sad to see Nigeria in the way it is today. There is a total mess of the whole thing. No rule of law whatsoever. Many at times i feel embarrassed to be called Nigerian because our leaders have made a mess of the whole situation. Our legislators and ministers knows what is good for us but they wouldn't do it just for a reason best know to them. I don't care which region the president of Nigeria might come from but what i do care is someone who will lead this country to glory and not to shame. It is high time that we realized that Nigeria is above Individuals and selfish sentiments.NO one is indispensable! If the present president is not fit for this job, pls let him relinquish power to the vice-president as simple as that. If they can't do that why on earth do we have a vice-president? Please Nigeria and Nigerians let us wake up. In the North is all about Religious conflict btw Muslims and Christians. Why is it so? No religion is in favor of violence so lets stop fooling ourselves in the name of religion. God will never forgive any violent man whether Muslim,Christian, Hindu or whatsoever. Lets us all strive for what is good and just. Long Live Nigeria.

Are you supprised? Have you not been watching Nigerian home videos where the use human beings for rituals to make money or acquire power and position? I am seing the Yar Adua case the same way. Turai and co have kapt the President in a situation akin to a ritualist's skeleton in a cupboard while they make more money, justle for positions and oil wells for their children, inlaws and boy friends. How are we sure that they are giving the President the actual dose of drugs prescribed by his doctors or the ones they themselves want to keep him in that state until they have actualised all their plans.

now to hear what he will say to his people because believe Yar'adua is a good spirit man. If he able
to talk he would have tell Turai to stop messing around. Turai what a shame are bringing to womanhood?

To me i praise the woman very much and they said one good thing deserved another. if a woman is so kind like this, her daughter own would be the best. On the face of the earth, there is time for everything. Time to work and time to rest. Time to rule and time to be ruled. Time to be Commander-in-Chief and time to be Ex-Commander-in-Chief. Time to live in Aso Rock and Time to packout from Aso Rock. Time to be FEC members and time to resign as FEC members. Nigerian people have continued to defile law of gravity. In Nigeria things are done Nigerian way. There is nothing like Universal law and principles when it concerns Nigeria. What are we not ment to swallow in the face of corruption and shame. Those who shall be leading us are cheating us. The FEC members have allowed a woman to question their credibility. A shame. If they understand the tune of the music, they should all resign. If they cannot see through the prism now and act wisely, then Nigerian (the poor neglected continuosely abused Citizens) shall take our DESTINY in our own hands. I wish the gentle spirit of our president well and divine healing. Please tell those so called "Law makers" to resign. They do not know any Law not to talk of making it. Sorry to Nigerian Constitution. Let us pray for our dear country and the unit of our existence "the Constitution" as a Nation. Nigeria is bigger than a sect of people or cabal as you call them. God is the King of Nigeria. We shall all see the end of this saga.

iece below is as relevant today as it was in 2002 when it was first published.

Tonye David-West, Jr., Ph.D Wednesday, November 27, 2002
DEAR MOSLEMS!
This letter is specifically for you, NORTHERN NIGERIAN MOSLEMS and those who partook in this show of shame in protest of the Miss World pageant, bringing disgrace and opprobrium to all of us. I’m ashamed of you, I’m ashamed of your barbaric actions. It's evident that some of you need to attend anger management classes. What do I mean by this? To answer this question, it is crucial we evaluate the methods which some of you, northern Nigerian Muslims, choose from time to time to address affronts on your religion, real or imagined. It seems from past events that violence is the preferred method. Am I wrong? The violent events in the last few days in Kaduna and Abuja serve as a reminder of this grim fact.
In light of the irresponsibility of ThisDay Newspaper and distasteful publication, one would have expected you, northern Nigerian Muslims, to protest in a manner most would consider congruent with civility, such as orchestrating a civil boycott of the newspaper until it offers a sincere and acceptable apology. Or educating the faithfuls to write letters of protest to the management, the federal government or the Nigerian Union of Journalist. There are many acceptable avenues by which you could have addressed this malfeasance besides taking the laws into your hands. This seems to be the trend which, in most cases, have caused you heavy losses.
Tell me, how does killing and maiming innocent people take you to heaven? How does destruction of churches, God's own house of worship, put you in good stead with Allah? How does that work? Are you doing all this because of the seventy-two virgins who are supposingly waiting for you when you get there? Do you get any rewards for killing and destruction? Are you not concerned with your image? In Kaduna 2000, in Jos 2002, in Kano 2001, remember the Osama riots? In Zaria, in Kafancha, in Maiduguri.
In this Miss World riots which has yet again brought out the worst in you, I fail to see the connection between the journalistic error of ThisDay and the destruction of churches and killing of Christians. Could you be so kind to clue me in on the connection? This is puzzling to say the least, as ThisDay is not a religious organization neither is it representing any Christian organizations. The newspaper is a secular one which is dedicated to the dissemination of secular news. How did the violence progress from destruction of the newspaper's offices in Kaduna and Bauchi to making the Christians and their places of worship as co-enemies? This question has to be answered.
Many of you contribute to the perception of Muslims as being violent with such rush to wanton destruction of lives and properties at the slightest tension. Can you blame anyone for seeing you as such? What are you going to do about this? Is this what you want the world to think of you and your religion which you so love and are willing to die for? Think about this question real hard the next time you pick up that dagger to terminate the life of a fellow human being because he does not look like you or profess the same religion. Seemingly, many of you have not shown the tolerance which Christians or should I say, southerners, those who share fifty percent of the country with you have shown you.
In Port-Harcourt, for example, a Christian enclave from all accounts, many streets [Victoria, Bende, Niger streets, etc] are closed for hours during Friday prayers, bringing traffic to a halt in an already congested city during Friday prayers. The good people of Port-Harcourt are giving you in Port-Harcourt this privilege to block public streets so that you can pray. Mind you, most of you do not have jobs in Port-Harcourt besides selling "suya" and pushing trucks and as such do not pay taxes. But yet, the public streets which are sustained by tax payers are closed for you for hours on Fridays. This has been happening for more than twenty years. And this is a state where there is less than 1 percent Muslim population. So tell me, could this happen in Kano? Could this happen in Kaduna? Could this happen in Sokoto? Could this happen in Zamfara? Do most of you know what it means to be tolerant of others? Does the word accommodation mean anything to you? Aren’t you tired of killing, killing and killing?
You say that you want one Nigeria. Are you serious? Are you really serious? Let’s be frank now. The time for shenanigan has gone. You have Shariah law in twelve states and the rest of the country has common law. Is this your one Nigeria? Is this your idea of tolerance? Is this how you are accommodating others? If you want your way of life, why don’t you leave the rest of the civilized world alone? Why don’t you do us all a favor and declare your Islamic Republic where you can stone women all you want and cut limbs? Why are you still holding tight to Nigeria? What are you afraid of? That you will starve to death if you declare that republic? That none of you is qualified to lead your universities? That you do not have the know-how to run your industries? Why don’t you call on Saudi Arabia to send in their experts? Maybe Afghanistan can help? Maybe Iran can send a few bearded mullahs to teach you how to cut limbs and stone women.
I’m not interested anymore. You can go away for all I care. It has been a mistake from the very beginning. Your days of parasiting are over. It’s better we go our separate ways. Don’t you think so? What do you think? Your behavior is repugnant, shameful and atrocious. Don’t forget that you have no more right to that country you think is an Islamic country than anyone else. Most of you have learned nothing from elder statesman Mallam Aminu Kano of blessed memory. Most of you know nothing about finesse, tact and diplomacy. All you know is to kill destroy and kill again. What is it with you and killing? Is that your calling? To have blood on your hands with every tension? Your stock never runs dry of gasoline and matches to light the fire. Do you work around the streets with those items? It seems each time there is little tension, you are quick to burn and destroy.
There is a saying which goes thus: ‘because I am ignoring you does not mean that I am deaf’ It will be a grave error to assume that the Christians in the country are weak because they choose to be civil by not burning down your mosques and killing Muslims at every provocation, of which there have been many, to say the least. Christians often times have been on the receiving end of your wrath often for something that could have been discussed and redressed in a very peaceful manner. Every inconsequential provocation seemingly results in violence. A Christian truck driver inadvertently runs over a Quran in Kano, he was killed instantly. Christian nurses continue to be persecuted in Bauchi at a federal, not state, but federal health facility by Muslims.
If you, the northern Nigerian Muslims, want to disabuse others of the perception they have of you of thriving on violence, you will have to begin by addressing your own reactions to events. You tell us that Islam is a great and peaceful religion, if so, you must uphold these attributes with your actions, words and deeds. If not, those who watch you would be led to believe otherwise. Are you insecure? Why do you feel the need to fight each day for your religion? Why don’t you let your religion speak for itself? How many times have you heard or seen the Christians destroying your Mosques and killing Moslems in the south? How many times? Do you not think we too can slaughter you like animals?
We were told that rioting broke out in Abuja immediately after Friday prayers. What do your Imams tell you at those prayers? Aren't prayers supposed to bring you closer to Allah? Aren't the Imams supposed to preach peace and tolerance? What do they tell their worshipers? What are their responsibilities to their congregations? Respect is reciprocal, tolerance is a dual street and if it is not returned we would continue to have riots such as this and retaliatory ones such as the one we saw in Aba two years ago which took many Muslim lives. You don’t have a monopoly of violence. We will match you as long as you wallow in your murderous endeavors. You have not learnt anything from the Aba retaliatory riots, have you?
Let me remind you that Nigeria is a secular nation, so says its constitution. It does not have a state religion neither does it subscribe to any. It is a country which currently has a Christian as president and senate president and depending on whom you ask, it has a majority Christian population or a majority Muslim population, that is, if you are counting the cows and the dead. It is not prudent for you to expect everyone to abide by your religious calendar. Who are you to tell us when to have a Miss World pageant? Haven’t we been having a Miss Nigeria pageant for years? If the Miss World pageant offends your sensibilities, SO WHAT? Get over it. Who cares? Are you the only ones who live in Nigeria? You have every right to refuse it in your Islamic states and every right to refuse your state-run papers, radios and TV stations to provide coverage. You have the right to instruct your children and veiled wives not to watch the pageant. That is your prerogative.
But to assert that others, the sixty million plus who are not Muslims, should be deprived of this event, however frivolous it may be in your eyes because you are the moral police, is ridiculous and nonsensical. Must all Nigerians cater to your wishes? When did you cater to Christians' wishes? Are you the ones to dictate to the rest of the nation what events can be watched and what cannot be watched? Who bestowed on you such right? Is this a joke? Are you telling me that those you call infidels cannot have an event without your approval? Can we profess our faith or do we need to seek your approval? Can we watch a movie or do we need to submit it to you, the moral police of Nigeria, MPN, for your stamp of approval? Are there other events we need your approval on? Is there a list of events that would 'offend your sensibilities'? Give us that list so that we may comply to your every whims and caprices. Heaven forbid that we further offend your sensibilities in a democracy. Who has ever heard of such a thing?
You may have won this battle, but ...
It is wrong to threaten the hosting of the pageant even if it falls during the month of Ramadan as long as it is not done in the Shariah states. To the best of my recollection, Calabar and Port-Harcourt were the destinations of the beauty queens, the event had no stops in any of your Shariah states. So why should you assume the role of moral police and legislate to the rest of the country what can be watched and what cannot because it offends your sensibilities? Isn’t this laughable? Have the Christians told you what to do and what not to do because of the Christmas season? All well meaning Nigerians must and should reject your intolerance, it has no place in the concept of civility. You say Ramadan is a holy month, but you freely kill and destroy churches in a holy month. Does that make sense? Oh, it’s the Jihad, isn’t it?
You must know that Nigeria is not a Muslim country. Hear it again, Nigeria is NOT a Muslim country. Any questions? Whether you like it or not, there are others in Nigeria and you cannot impose your religious whims on the rest of the country. If you do not know this then be ready to continue the bloodbath and destruction which often leaves your north, not the south, but your north in physical ruins, setting it further back. Do you ever think of that? You talk about morality like you invented the word. If you are so moral, why haven’t you cut the limbs of your thieving leaders? Why haven’t you killed them for stealing billions and bringing shame to your religion? Are you only interested in stoning poor and defenseless women? What macho men you are! You should pat yourselves on the back, you have conquered your women. What a feat for all men to emulate.
You seem to have taken much liberty with the ineffectiveness of the Obasanjo administration. How can anyone blame you? In flagrant violation of the constitution you instituted Shariah law in its penal form in twelve states. In a functional society, make note of it, I said, functional society, [Nigeria is not] such a declaration by Sani and his fellow zealots in Zamfara on October 27, 1999 would have been met with resistance from the federal government and Sani tried for treason and punished according to the laws of the land. Such stance by the Shariah states amounts to declaration of independence from the federation. Which country registered under the United Nations operates two laws for its citizens? Is there a country where an adulterer would be stoned to death in one state and would be untouched in another? Such is the lot of Nigeria because you decided to practice your faith in-toto just when you lost power and a Christian president assumed office.
Major Gideon Orkar was right to have asked you to leave the country until you can sort yourselves out. If I were that brave soldier, I would have asked you to forget about sorting yourselves out - just leave and don’t return. I wish he had succeeded because you bring nothing but shame and disgrace with your barbaric actions. You want to stone women in the year 2002. Others are talking about new scientific discoveries. You are not interested. You want to stone women. Others are talking about how to advance humanity. You are not interested. You want to cut people’s arms. Others are talking about economic progress. You are not interested. You want to burn churches and kill Christians. That is your calling. What is wrong with you? Why must you resolve every conflict with force? Is it lack of education? Are you frustrated? Do you lack confidence? Why do you see the need to kill and kill and kill? Do something different for a change. There is a foreign concept out there called dialogue. Try it, it may work.
Some of you need to take anger management classes.
You are holier than the Iranians, the Kuwaitis, the Iraqis, etc. You are holier than the Arabs, those from the land where your religion began. Show me one thing you have contributed to the nation of Nigeria? How have you helped? What have you done? Were it not for southerners, where will you be now? In the Sahara roasting? You are uneducated, you have no knowledge and you have no skills except in killing. Aren’t you tired? Don’t you ask yourselves why you rush to kill all the time? Don’t you have conscience? On a second thought, why should you? You have nothing to live for anyway. No hopes, no aspirations. If you do, you will not rush to kill and destroy churches.
If you have learnt nothing, learn this: our ways are not your ways, our values are not yours, so why don’t you leave us alone and declare your Islamic Republic? Do you need help doing this? It would be my pleasure. You will not have your way in Nigeria. You don’t own the country, you must know that you are NOT ‘born to rule’. Are you ruling now? You are entitled to your faith, values and beliefs, but so are others. If you don’t like it, just go away. Leave us alone. Why would you want to share a country with infidels? Why would you want to share a country with those who cherish the parade of nudity? Go and have your morality in your own Islamic Republic.
You will not be missed. Who misses a parasite?

Is is not surprising that a woman that should be asking for collective prayers for the speedy recovery of her husband is the one scheming along side some wolves? and if i may ask, what legal power does Mrs Turai has to drive this course she has chosen.
It is also very shocking and insulting to know that those elected to rectify such situation as this are indirectly telling us that they are not up to the task.
God is in control any way and that which is impossible for man is always very possible for him and i know that in his infinate mercy, he would put an end to all these soon.

Remember Olusegun Mathew Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo, in 2007 Prsesidential Election campaigns says that the seat of Power is a Do or Die affaires. After anointed IWU as a Chairman of INEC, and because of Iwu stomach, from the Local Government to the Federal Government level, Obasanjo and Iwu imposed Leader and not our right Choice. Majority are in the National Assembly; answering Honourable Thieve, They are confused, because their foundation are faulty. Their Judgements Day is at hand. Good thing will never come from them. In Nigeria, God deliverers will not tarry.

I believe if he is that sick then he should step down as a leader and let some one else perform the duties then he would be free to heal without the stress of office.

Just to add that Peter was indeed prophetic in his writing and it came to pass that Turai the Almighty Cleopatra of out time was finally cut to size and she left the villa in tears and in shame.
What a tragedy and today she would be infamously consigned to the dustbin of those who attempted to use an ailing man against all decent to blackmail, harrass and intimidate a150million innocent families represented by God. Why all for her selfish , morbid and ill-fated desire to suck our blood like Dracula before her have dared to do but failed. I would have loved to pity her but unfortunately my empathy is reserved for the people she traumatized brazenly for myopic and demonic reasons.
Turai must continue as first lady. she must wake her husband to continue so that the president Goodluck Jonathan can be confined Acting like Jim Ike my friend. She must stay. Yaradua must not die.If she dares to leave then SHAME ON TURAI and the other bandits who thought they can use witchcraft politics to haunt a blessed nation NIGERIA.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA, GOD BLESS US.AMEN
