*Governor Daniel’s Aide Went Berserk, Beat Passenger On Board IRS Flight
*Culprits will be prosecuted, says NCAA
*Case reported to Police
There was dramatic scene Wednesday, March 10, when one of the aides of Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, Nigeria allegedly beat a passenger on board an IRS flight at the Lagos airport. In retaliation, some passengers on board the flight pounced on the governor’s aide and dealt with him severely.
The passengers, who proved uncontrollable at the terminal, told reporters that they would fight the case with their last sip of blood, since the manhandled passenger did not commit any offense that warranted the assault.
One of the passengers narrated that their flight which took off from Abuja airport for Lagos, but could not land at Lagos domestic terminal due to unfavourable weather. She said the plane returned to base in Abuja after it hovered for some minutes in Lagos airspace.
She stated that as they prepared to return to Lagos with passengers taking their seats, one of the passengers who had business class ticket went to take his seat at the business class area when one of the aides of the governor told him to vacate the seat, saying it was reserved for the Governor.
The passenger, it was learnt explained that he also bought the same business class seat and could seat anywhere in business area. The aide allegedly told him to vacate the area for the governor and his entourage, a situation which caused a ‘brouhaha’ from take-off to landing.
STOPPED When Governor Daniel eventually came on board, his aides allegedly dragged the passenger out of the business area which he had paid for and was forced him to sit in the economy area. After the aircraft landed, it was gathered that the passenger was dragged out of the aircraft and beaten, a situation which attracted the attention of security officers attached to MMA2.
At the MMA2, the Chief Security Officer and ADC attached to Daniel were seen telling the security officers that the passenger “embarrassed the governor on board and should suffer the consequence". “I am the Chief Security Officer of the governor, we are not dragging this case because of anything, but for the embarrassment he caused the governor", the Chief Security Officer told the police officers. ( Continues below….. )
The aides, who accused the passenger of calling the governor “stupid", eventually took the case to the Beesam police station when it appeared the security officers could not do anything. Another passenger, who accused the officials of the airline onboard of refusing to intervene, said he had to go into the cockpit to talk to the Pilot to intervene when the issue became very serious. “We need to tell the whole world that we all have equal right anywhere, both on air and on ground”, he stressed.
However, Benedict Ifeanyi, Murtala Muhammed Airport police public relations officer told reporters that the case had been transferred to the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the international airport adding that he received the report yesterday.
Spokesman for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Sam Adurogboye said the matter was yet to be reported to the authority, but described the incident as air rage that was capable of leading to accident. He described the situation as horrendous and against all international aviation law, stressing that the culprits could be prosecuted for endangering passengers’ lives.

Comments:
it may not be long before "suicide bombers" start roaming public places to restore honor and personal dignities
or to some great extends, start attacking families of the elites. Few days ago, a Nigerian judge attacked a man
in public, beat him up, and tried to force the man into the trunk of his vehicle in public. That judge was temporarily suspended by the Nigerian Judicial Council for public fighting which effectively was a common assault and attempted adoption. Last month, it was also reported that the Gov. Ikedi Ohakim of Imo state sent his security to adopt a civilian who had written several articles against the governor in the media. The victim was allegedly stripped naked, and lashed with a whip by the Governor in his government residence. Today, an air passenger was reported beaten up by the security officers of Ogun Gov. Gbenga Daniels in the plane for no apparent reason other than for refusing to forfit his Business class seat for the governor's aides.
These incursions are serious stomps on individual rights, personal egos, and civil liberties. Indeed, there might
some elements of the public community that might not take these assaults very lightly. Some people might take
personal revenge on innocent family members of those concerned or pad themselves up as suicide bombers and
prefer to die with their assailants. When aggrieved people have been denied all mechanisms of redress set up
for public reconciliations, they may become desperate and despondence and commit serious mischiefs. Ordinary
by-stander may be enraged by a maltreatment that is disposed to any citizen he or she may not even know. We
must also recollect how the late prime ministers of India ( ie. Indira Ghandi and her son died at the hands of those grossly offended by the policy decisions affecting the Indian Golden Amistry's Temple, in India). Brutality
by the elites is becoming too rampart and very serious against the common citizens who had virtually nothing.
Unless these issues are properly checked-mated, Nigerian elites may be inviting enormous trouble they might
not be well-equipped to manage when fully developed to class wars. For peace to prevail, let all concerned speak
up now before it is too late to invoke God's help. Fair is fair.
Take a look at what is happening in Nigeria today and learn from it.
Ogun state, the entire people of Ogun state should rise to retore their respect because it's a disgrace to person like Gbenger and a slap to Ogun state citizens in general. It has shown a very good example of Ogun state citizens who always fails to conduct themselves even in public. We should wait to see the reaction of Ogun people over the emblassment their Governor and aids caused them. These will serve as warning onto all selected or furtunate imposters that are occupying verious seats in other governments high offices in Nigeria. Over the years Nigeria had sufferred bad governance, which had ternished her image abroad. We all collectively should rise to restore senity onto Nigerian governance.
Watch out for this case they will use tax payer's money to turn the case against this passenger.
they behave at home by stealing other people yam etc from the farm and they cover them up.some of this secret
is showing up now.Only them will expose themselves.
The Security Chief was performing his constitutional roles please.
However,if Gbenga daniel feel he cannot seat close to a fellow citizen cos of the ego of being a governor, then he should have chatered a flight from their loots from the tax payers money.
It his high time we put a stop to this unending public assault and harrasment form the people in government office. The passenger should get a good lawyer who can defend him and let justice prevail. God bless Nija
Nigeria, the place God promised that it will be a place of refuge, were people can stay and be saved, so many of
us will not be suprise of what our leaders are turning this country into,. The pasenger bought the ticket with his
own money, so, he deserve every respect. The Daniel in question as a governor should prove to the world that
he is a responsible governor and a father of the state. If I was on board with the so called governor and his aides,
I would have handed over the aides to God, I know is not late, because whatever a man sows, he reaps. The
pasenger may be humiliated, but I know the God we serve, will always vindicate the pasenger and prove to the
world that He (God) still fight for the defenceless. PLEASE NIGERIANS LET US RETURN BACK TO GOD IN SPIRIT &
IN TRUTH. Are you a Clergy or a Priest? Can we in one voice say, OH GOD, FIGHT FOR NIGERIA and DELIVER
HER FROM CORRUPT LEADERS (POLITICIAN) SAVE NIGERIA FROM BLOOD SHED.
Leaders be careful war is coming and it will start from you so be ware.
In advance countries, respect is reciprocal, the Leaders respect their people and PEOPLE of respect their Leaders. Food for thought.
He should send litigation against the Airline, please.
this story would be thrown into the book of achives,
lets wait and see the jurgement.
suppossed to be in the economy class. if for any reason there is a VIP
patronage, courtesy demands the airline to handle the protocol &
reservation but in the failure of the airline to discharge their duty,
curtesy demands from aide of the Governor to excuse the gentle man to
move seat . Mr. Ayansoga Odutola is probably from Ogun State and
expressing sentiments.Freedom to speak & express oneself is inherent in our democracy.
"brazen showmanship or air rage" is condemnable. The lives of other passengers were put at risk. This is a puzzle for the judiciary.
I am not surprised, even when our brother came in through the back door from London, some pple still questions and blamed London/FG.
Call a spade a spade!!!!. They all got it wrong, most especially, the passenger.
My thinking is that, whichever right you have, you need not exercise that right at that moment. Why are you dragging the seats with GOVERNOR of a STATE. You can as well slap PRESIDENT on the pretends of equal right.
M opinion is that the fighting should have directed to the Airline Officers on board, knowing fully that the Aide has roped his argument on GOVERNOR's SECURITY.
If the passenger had followed this line of argument, he would have been honored at the end of the day.
Stop condemning your country and yr-self
sometimes i don't know if to denounce myself as a Nigeria or what cos we don't have leaders all we have is bunch of stupid and corrupt rulers.
GDENGA DANIELS.,......... YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO NIGERIANS.
stollen. He and his ignorant touts should stop patronising the general public.
Please note that the ticket the passenger bought was for a particular period2pm (which off-course, the plan could't land in Lagos and turned backed to Abuja). Gbenga tickets for all the business class seats was 5:50pm. Who is at fault? Airline or Gbenga &co who is serving his people for good (laugh).
Please let us respect our Leader home or abroad.
@ Mr Gov, ur time is coming, History is a good Teacher............
@ Over acting ADIE. Be good to the people on ur way up the ladder for u need them on ur way down
I am sure you are still a baby.
Do not cry for Nigeria.
Pls come back home and face the heat, Critics are not good Administrators. We were born to rule baby.
I will not abuse you niether will I say bad words to you. Jesus said "forgive them bcos they don't what they are doing"
But my advice is that do not have BP over this issue, if you are being put in the similar or same position, you will do worst than Alrms.
let us know yr identity pls. may be we can give you Minister of Sogbae
THIS INCIDENT HAS SHOWN THE DECAY THAT HAS EATEN DEEP INTO OUR SOCIETY. WHERE THEY HIGH AND MIGHT FEEL EVERYBODY SHOULD SUCK UP TO THEM BUT THEY FORGET THAT WHEN YOU ARE ON TOP THE ONLY WAY OUT IS DOWN AND WE WILL BE VILIGLANT. MARK MY WORDS
THEY ALL THE TIME LOOK DOWN ON OTHER NIGERIANS WHO ARE ORDINARY CITIZENS
THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY EQUATE THEMSELVES TO DEMI GODS AND BELEIVE OTHER NIGERIANS CAN BE ABUSE WITHOUT ANY RECOURSE TO COMPENSATION .
POLICE OUR SO CALLED SECURITY CANT DO ANYTHING. FEW WEEKS AGO A LOCAL GOVT
CHAIRMAN BEAT THE CEO OF DHL MR KOMOLAFE AND TILL DATE NOTHING IS BEEN DONE. IT
SAID THAT ABSOLUTE POWERS CORRUPT ABSOLUTELY.

IRS Airline quickly look out for this customer and apologies to he/she as you failed in your responsibility to protect him on board.
As for the Governor's Thugs they should be made to face the law to let them know that Nigeria belong to all of us.
To the brave passengers who waded into the matter. Bravo!! struggle must continue.
Prof Ayansoga Odutola is simply testing his ability to philosophize. Interesting arguements but baseless and inhumane. By 2:00pm and 5:50pm visa-vis non landing of the airline implies unexecuted contract;hence somewhat delayed flight for the 2:00pm. This makes the passenger right to be on-board at the fateful hours.
The Aides went doing the job of the Airline and has done it wrongly. He could be charged for impersonation as well. Very dissappointing that the passanger was beaten in presence of the Governor.
have sorted out the matter from the start. Since the first flight couldn't land
successfully at its destination, and was turned back to its original departure
terminal, this is very simple, the management would have made another flight
available to convey both afternoon and evening passengers to save this urgly
situation. and seat number would have been allocated to every passenger.
On the whole, I strongly blame the staff of the Airline and the Governor for not
putting the situation under control, this shows that His Excellency was
negligent and somebody of his calibre has no charisma to govern a state that
comprises millions population, since he was not able to manage one or two
people, even to conduct himself humbly was a fiasco. and it is unacceptable in
a civilized society, my opinion is to impeach him from the office.
My line of argment is that, asuming that the Governor was wrong, what of the Airline (Business is business).
All 'am saying is that, we should learn how to respect our Country/Leader. No matter the extent of the offence. We should be seeing as patrotic Citizens, that say positive things about our Country. Am not saying what the Governor/Aide did was right, but good comments should come from our mouth.
It is only in Nigeria we do don't say GOD BLESS our COUNTRY.
One Nigerian was killed in Swiss, no bad comments against this Country.
Please let us pray for this OUR Country and the Leaders.
to accord the governor that honour of the business class. Though this problem is as a result of the incompetence of the airline cabin crew and their check in counter clerks, nevertheless the behavior of the Governor's thugs fell short of good conduct which is supposed to be their trademark. The Governor might be
unhappy with the brutal actions of his thugs, yet he did little to stem their excessive use of force to achieve their aim. Better to do nothing than to do ill.
it is wrong to blow one's top at the expense of civility and this incident is a minus for Gbenga who is noted for several polluted controversies. Enough is enough.
of a cult group to mislead him to be on a sticky wicket. Replying his critics
is a mark of improper upbringing and arrogance and may affect his chances
of not being a dead duck.
You need to be beating up indeed.
You have no respect for Elders. You are talking to an Elderly MAN oOOoooooO!!!!!!!!!
be careful.. Is it not that you are tired of Nigeria, that was why you left your aging mother and ran after wishy-wishy.
Please, you are invited to join our RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT.
Anyway its just a question of time, we will all see wht next.
