*A Cry To Save Nigeria

By Engr. Noble N. Noble

Nigerians, why can’t we practice what we preach? We preach patriotism, love, unity and one nation, but what are we trying to do to our blessed nation? Will we allow politics, ethnic protection and religious domination to come before the interest of the nation for a country that is supposed to be one? Why can’t we answer these questions conscientiously and educate our people properly for the good of our nation.

Nigeria as a nation should transcend social crisis, personal interest and political interest and embrace common interest, common goal and common target for future growth of the country. How have we failed, how have we allowed private interest to take precedence over our nation? Nigerians, now is the time to prove the love we claim to have for this country, now is the time to think, reason together and take a commonly acceptable step deemed necessary for the way forward for Nigeria. ( Continues below….. )

Map of Nigeria

Our leaders are well read and should know better; better enough to put into practice the qualities they represent, the qualities that distinguish them and prove them worthy of solving Nigerian problems, speaking in one voice when necessary, taking the right decision at the right time and allowing the proper thing done as it concerns the future of the country.

Nigerians, this is the time to put aside ethnic differences, religious differences, political differences, personal interests and sentimental interests and hold onto unity, peace and understanding, in order to weather this raging storm that Nigeria is faced with. A raging storm that could be put to still if we show little love and exercise little trust with one another, believing in one nation and making sacrifices for the nation, a raging storm that is no case if we value and put our country first, a country that has shown us so much love, a country so blessed that it never experiences natural disasters if not for human made disaster. Nigerians, now is the time to act in one direction, now is the time to discard personal advantage and commit together for the building of our nation. ( Continues below….. )

Our highest leaders are referent leaders, with the interest of the nation at heart and as such, they should apply required controls when necessary to ensure the well-being of the nation and its citizens. Nigerians, this is the right time to take the right step; a step that would transform Nigeria and its citizens. A step to make our schools internationally competitive and our hospitals meet our medical needs; a step to patronize Nigerian made goods and make create jobs for Nigerians. Thank you, Nigerians. God bless Nigeria.

May I ask, "Is it every comment that you publish?" There are comments that you need to edit before you publish. All comments that come from those who feel that the best thing to happen to Nigeria is division should be ignored.
Yes, the carnage in Jos is unimaginable in the history of the nation but must we keep refreshing peoples' minds about it? May the likes of Engineer Noble be given more chances to remind us about what we were meant to stand for - LOVE. That is the ultimate.

Let us have attitudinal change for the positive individually, groups and the
Nigeria Nation. We should stop praising and supporting stolen wealth. Desist from given chieftancy and tradinational titles and positions of conscience, trust and responsibility to people with questionable riches and characters. We should think, feel and act NIGERIA and not our tribal and premodial leanings.
Let us develop sustainable culture of discipline in every sphere of our lives- personally, institutions and in politics(from the parties to the local governments to the federal level).

shallow minded and not good for this country. most nigerians that thinks they

iam very sorry for those advocating the dissolution of nigeria as the solution to the present problem.they are ignorant of the basic issues troubling nigeria.for example[1] the ibos advocating biafra have never found an acceptable leader to present as a presidential candidate they can sell to other nigerians!during the last effort about 8 were bent on becoming president without sounding out other nigerians'opinion whether any of them was acceptable to other nigerians.during the obasanjo era we had up to 4 ibo senate presidents one after the other thru intrigues!look at anambra, how unstable they have been handling their gubernatorial election problems!every ibo man wants to be governor or president, how stable will biafra be like if ,God forbid,it becomes a reality?[2]the yorubas are the worst of the 3 main tribal groups in nigeria, ask me why?they kill themselves or arrange to kill when their opponents are too much for them.if you can't beat him at the poll eliminate him physically.leadership is not achieved through democratic means despite the claim of yorubas to being ahead of other tribes in civilsation!the rivalry among the ethnic groups among yorubas will come to light more vividly if yorubas separate from nigeria![3]the north cannot remain one as they pretend to be doing now under nigeria, not even with the intolerance of the moslems to xtians!this is apart from the minority problems such a northern govt would have to battle with![4]the minorities will even find it more difficult to get themselves together eg ijaws, urhobos, itshekiris, can they agree even in the delta when the come comes to become? IT WILL BE CATASTROPHIC TO SAY THE LEAST.let us pray that God should help our leaders to pilot the plane of nigerian state so that we don't crash in Jesus name, amen.

Goodday Nigerians,
It high time some of us who think they know too much, stopped decieving ourselves in the name of a united Nigeria. We do not need any Gadarfi to tell us that there is no future in what you call Nigeria today nor in future. Many of us delude our selves believing it is possible. How can it possible when everyday stories that hurt the heart like that of the recent Jos killings continue to stare us in the face. A rejoinder on this tried to castigate the Igbo for calling for the seperation of Nigeria;by the creation of Biafran State. He sited that they presented 8 candidates for the last Presidential election, and on that platform, he believe Igbo are not sincere for offering their own designed solution for Nigeria crisis. Maybe this guy will also tell Gadarfi that!
My brother, the call for seperation of Nigeria is for peace to be not only in Biafra but also in Arewa, Oduduwa etc. Presentation of so many candidates in an election does not transform into inability to build a strong nation state. Rather, it is an indication that the Igbo have as many as they presented to the Nigerian State, to pick from.
While on the so many presidential candidates, I will like the writer to tell us how many Yoruba presidential candidates that were there in the same election. Even Obasanjo`wife constested against her husband. In the North, how many candidates did they present? Answer yourself these questions, because I know that candidates like Gani, Mojushola Adejunle-Obasanjo, Tunji Braithwait, to name but a few from from the West. Candidates like Yusuf , Buhari, Atiku and many unrecounted others were also candidates from the North.
It is unfortunate that anytime call like this emanate from the Igbo, some will equally emerge to tell the Igbo that they are not united. I will like the writer to tell how united the North is that cases like Jos killing should be aalloed to occur.
They unity of Nigeria is good, but it can only be allowed to continue when we show that we are truly united. For now. let those who think that they love Nigeria more than the Igbo come down to Aguleri in Anambra East L.G.A of Anambra state to buy land and built a residential home. This the Igbo have been doing time and time again.
Nigeria is not sacrosant. Nigeria was is a state created by God and upon which God reside, because injustice abounds in it. Nigeria is a political contraption by man and if man also discover that this bird can not fly, we go our seperaye ways and save the lives of people being wasted every year in the name of conflict. When other nations are moving away from parochianism, when other people are busy designing solution to the unoversal problem facing mankind, Nigerian cannot contribute. We are hiding the preseident from Saudi Arabia to Katsina. We are telling ourselves lies upon lies that we waste a lot time doin what we shold not be doing.
Save Nigerians by dividing Nigeria. One life prevented from being killed tomorrow, is a life well saved.
Once beaten, twice shy.

It is a whole truth that Nigeria is a falls nation. Those who amalgamated it knew very well that we can never live together. They did what they did for heir own selfish economic interest. Either we formulate a working policy that will force us to stay together soon or we have to agree to disintegrate very quickly. what is happening in Jos is a clear indicated that we can never live together. A lot of killings in Jos over religious disgreement unchecked. Will there ever be religious agreement? NO. Niger Delta is boiling for sectional disagreement unchecked. Will there ever be sectional agreement? NO. The West sees the north and east as unfit for anything. indigene superceed citizen, What a country. There must be a solution - Forced to stay together or agree to live apart. May Allah help us.

let us call a spade a spade, it is high time we express our opinions that Nigerians have abused the privilege given to us as a nation by our Supreme Being (OUR CREATOR) WHO OUT OF HIS INFINITE MERCY endowed us with natural resources like cocoa, rubber, timbers and so on ,until recently He added crude oil but we failed to maximize all these resources to benefit ourselves , instead the so called elites among us just took advantage of this to suffer the weak ones. We are suppose to travel around us and see what we do not have in order to spend what we have in order to develop our people. We suppose to see ourselves as one but due to our selfish interest we have allowed the riff-raff among us to dominate our economy, the bastards , the vagabonds among us are the ones controlling our resources, those whose grandfathers are not known in the history , once there is a wrong pegs in the wrong holes ,we continue to suffer in the hands of these ungodly people , like an adage of Yoruba that says " bi ilu ba n toro, omo ale ibe ko ti dagba ni " that once a nation is at peace it is because the bastards among them have not grown , by the time they grow things will become unsettle, there would be chaos, anarchy and disorder in the society, which we are all experiencing now. I belief the way forward is for all of us to be more committed to our nation than our self lust because we find out that the more the churches and mosques and even the so call religious leaders the more of atrocities, that shows that people are not committed to God but to self lust , until we are able to arrest our self interest even if we are made to separate , there will still be problems. Muslims and Christians should see themselves as one family , until this is done there can be no unity anywhere, which i know will not be a prayer of an ordinary Jew who never wishes that unity should exist among these two groups, because the Jews have seen that the two scriptures belonging to these two groups are almost similar but would not allow them to see a the area of similarity instead create enmity among them which we are all experiencing now .It is time we rethink and see ourselves as one , what is the big deal about a Yoruba man or an igbo man to see each other as brother and treat themselves as one? but for the love of money an igbo man will see a Yoruba man as a christian or Muslim. it is high time we rethink ,we can still together make a nation despite the fact that we were forcefully married together by our colonial master and to which God has been merciful with us . Despite all the oppressions in the hands of our so called leaders God is still merciful with us , that shows that we can still together make a virile nation ,all we need to do is to be sincere, see ourselves as brothers whose relationship cannot be severed by ethnicity , religion politics and otherwise. long live Nigeria .

Those calling for division of Nigeria on religous ground should think twice, becuase it is not going be an easy jtask. There are many muslems in the westernt part of the countrtry, in the esat too, likewise there are many christians in the core northern states. I agreed with thje coment of Mr. Olabgekan above, supporting the unity of Nigeria. The Niger Delta region has many different tribes who have differences. Tell me how it would be easy then. The only solution to Nigerian problems is basically to erradicate curruption from all Nigerians, starting from top to the grassroot. I pray that Almighty would protect Nigeria and its people. aAnd may He provide final solution to the crisis in Jos, Niger Delta and may He guide us and our leaders, amen.

none of the advocates of dissolving Nigeria have been convincing in their reasons cos nations are not built overnight! Most successful nations today had their difficult past.America fought civil war,the red indians problem, the discrimination against Blacks etc but America did not break up and today she is the envy of all nations because of their resolve to stay together.there is advantage in size,we only need to unite to fight the visionless and corrupt leaders who ,for selfish reasons instigate our people against themselves.for example,in yorubaland muslims and xtians don't ever fight against themselves on the basis of religion .it is only in politics ,because of past bad leadership- carried- over, that yorubas started to kill each other!iam really sad for the innocent blood that is being split everyday in nigeria when we are not fighting any war and Baba God has been so kind by releasing his treasures to us as a nation! Please fellow countrymen let us reexamine ourselves and seek Gods mercy otherwise if we break up to six or more nations with these attitudes, our situations individualy will be worse than what we are experiencing and complaining about now.God help us in Jesus name

I believe changes are possible. But we need to spread the ideology of how we should be perceiving the world.
We humans are naturally designed to act mostly to things we can see and touch. A mind is something that comes on later stage.
We need to spread the idea of taking a moment and thinking. Treat people the way you want to be treated. It is no joke, it is one of the most important starting point. You would not want to be robbed, or raped, or murdered, why do it to others? Sure, at the moment, it is eat or be eaten kind of situation. But we should be able to communicate enough to get the message across the table.
Another major issue we need to keep in mind, we are not a lone and will never will be. Our existence is a blink of an eye to the galaxies. So, we are that small, and we get to live life as if it is for ever lasting. We need to be thankful to this great opportunity we have come to. And now, as part of the environment, what is ideal to make best for the place, area, society, what could you possibly do to better the area?
We also need to start accepting the differences in ethnicity, religion and any thing that can be divided into more that 1 groups. Are we going to have to always fight against something different than us? In that case, we are at war the moment we wake up and until we sleep. Differences are every where, but we get used to and accept its existence in your part of life. It is a matter of time for adaptation, but the truth is we can make that happen earlier by thinking about it and understanding the idea.
Nigeria, you are in deep sleep, wake up and raise. The world is waiting for you to take your walk. Do not need to become one, or give up what you have, but work as one. And follow the most ideological thinking based upon the fact that we are all human beings. Stab me, stab you, we both bleed, without treatment we both die. Where do we go? We both do not know. But we can share our ideal place to we ought to be. And if it is A and B? We can meet in the middle, like A/B.
I will be waiting till that day when Nigeria becomes one. And until that day, I will be working with few of you to start making this change happen over time. I hope many others are doing too.

PEACE

This name 'Nigeria' has no future let us stop deceiving each other. the Yoruba's hate the ibo's more than any other tribe. if not the religion issues some times in the north which is a serious problem, the Hausa's is the tribe ibo man can count on in all ramifications, there is no doubt about the fact.Yoruba's is the last people you can trust in anything, ibo's still have their own problem but if somebody can say the truth, ibo man has no problem with the other tribes existence in Nigeria.

Fellow Nigerians, I thank you for your great response so far! I understand we are all disappointed at the happenings in our blessed country we feel should care about its citizens, I urge you to pacify your minds and contribute to the change our blessed country need. Let us first begin this transformation through individual process by believing and seeing each other as one, educating and preaching the idea to those we can convince as two wrongs can’t make a right. The future of our great country lies in our hands as we all have individual talents we can apply in different ways we know best to better the wellbeing of our great country. Now is not the time to apportion blames to one another but the time to seek for solution for our great Nation. Some have said division but there is no growth in division as our nation will be stronger in unity. Unity can succeed if we try, let our experience in the unity of life help us to see ourselves in all being and all being in ourselves and look on everything in one direction as this will go a long way to sustain the umbrella of unity in our great nation. God bless you all! God bless Nigeria!

Patriotism is important and you have to stand ready to defend your country at the ballot box electing the right officials. I have been reading your site for a while and enjoy it a lot. I have been teaching mostly in Asia but Nigeria has become an interesting place for me through this site. http://www.trucor.com/

What youre saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I also love the images you put in here. They fit so well with what youre trying to say. Im sure youll reach so many people with what youve got to say.

The Nigerian people have a great destiny and will obtain it when they vote as a nation not a group of tribes living in the same territory. The colony days are over and time for freedom from regional interests to begin. http://www.trucor.com/
