Delta Airline is to begin a non-stop service between the Federal Capital, Abuja and the city of New York on June 3, 2010. This was disclosed at a press briefing in Lagos by the Commercial Manager, West and East Africa Delta Airline, Mr Bobby Bryan. According to him, the airline will be using Boeing 767-300 aircraft for the operation on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday every week from the take-off date. ( Continues below….. )
The aircraft is configured to carry 216 passngers with 20 in the business elite class. Bryan explained that the airline would be providing greater choice and efficiency on the Abuja-New York non-stop operation, which would be the first of its kind in this sector. The airline also promised connections to 45 other destinations from New York to cities like Washington DC, Dallas and Houston. ( Continues below..... )
He further disclosed that the economy class fare would be $889, while the business class would go for $2,889.
The airline has customers' established base in Africa, having lifted more than 1.5 million passengers in 2006 and transported over 266,000 passengers on the Lagos-Atlanta route since it began services in Nigeria in December 2007.
