*Boko Haram, Islamized Nigeria…Really? Thank God!

By Ikechukwu Enyiagu

Thank God! At last, it’s coming closer to home. I thank God because no one could now comfortably continue to feign incognizance of the goings-on since most Nigerians, though educated, active and wise, oftentimes prefer nonchalance and unserious approach to realities until their dangers come knocking on the bedroom doors. Islamic extremists have spotted Nigeria as another fertile ground for blood spillage-the likes which are common in the some Arab countries; but they shall spill their own blood only. However, the height to which this madness may climb will be entirely dependent on the choices the government of the day and the people decide to make from now. Their methods often seem unserious until grounds begin to fall to their favors through acts of terror. And, hey! Never mistake those who champion this course for the uneducated and uninformed; don’t even dream of thinking that these Jihadists lack roots and supports within their people; most leaders in those lands are signatories to what they do. It’s a beautiful thing that the Northern branches of Nigeria are now speeding up on their catch; this way, Nigerian would be forced to sit up. It all started with one callous and hell-borrowed strategy introduced by the British as a means of checking the Igbos to avoid being questioned or opposed while they milk Nigeria dry. A people were called out of their self-satisfying nomadic and cattle-rearing lifestyle and had leadership thrust upon them. Then, they were aided to flush out Igbos in a genocide which claimed more that three million (3,000,000) lives, leaving us with remnants. Yet they were not satisfied. Oil were sucked from the South but transferred through underground pipelines to the North. Next, all national arsenals were shifted to the North-leaving other parts, especially the South East, with nothing but a division with only a name. Next, it was registering Hausa as the national language of Nigeria on BBC, claiming that Hausa is the only language worth hearing from Nigeria by the outside world. Further, these people who arrogantly called one of their states a “born to rule” went on to register Nigeria in the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) as an Islamic country. Next, their battle axe, Al-Qaeda, came in to register its bank but was advised that such premature move would blow up their cover. So, instead, they decided to implement one of their agenda which involves the Naira currency; they started writing Arabic/Islamic inscriptions in the Naira notes which only a closer and keener look could observe. When they were spotted and complaints threatened their resolved plan to Islamize all of Nigeria, they removed those inscriptions and replaced them with those from the three major tribes. As the anger died off, they secretly reintroduced these same Islamic Arabic signs to the national currency. In their timing, they installed a chronic Sharia enforcer as the CBN governor in the person of Mallam Sanusi. At the same time, they supplied and kept on supplying Boko Haram with all they needed to kill at will and terrorize the entire nation in an attempt to create diversions from their true agenda and sympathy which would lure Nigerians to unsuspectingly tolerate these schemes. And while they go on terrorizing the country and excitedly making President Goodluck Jonathan sweat in his sleep, the CBN Mallam used the federal money to start championing the Al-Qaeda banking in Nigeria in the guise of Islamic Banking. One of their spiritual leaders even went as far as openly boasting and vowing that all Muslims in Nigeria would go to war should the plan for an Islamic banking system be stopped. While their agents, Boko Haram, kills Igbos and peoples of other different tribes at will, their Northern leaders openly and unashamedly revealed that they have personally authorized the killings by blaming it all on the government. And in commenting, one of their governor even claimed that those who died were bound to die as they did. ( Continues below...... )

Late Boko Haram Leader

Photo Above: Late Boko Haram Leader, Mohammed Yusuf. Police said Yusuf was shot while trying to escape.

Recently, their scheme shifted to the killing of Igbos and anyone in Nigeria who cannot recite, offhand, the Islamic Quran. While they embark on this, the Nigerian government keeps seeking means to bribe them off their lifelong dream of Islamizing Nigeria but at the same time rounds up, beats, kills, arrests and detains without reasons the non-violent MASSOB members. As it is today and true to the maser plan given them by their leaders, Boko Haram has rebuffed every attempt by the federal government of Nigeria for any peace deal. Their condition for truce in Nigeria, however, has now been made evidently clear: Nigeria must be totally Islamized-from the East of the country through every other angle to the entire north; every Nigerian must become a Muslim by choice or by compulsion-in life or after being killed. Thank God again, the time for the inevitable decision has come; the moment to determine whether or not to let these unfeeling and hell-sent zealots Islamize all of Nigeria and compel every Nigerian to become a Muslim has come in its time. Every Nigerian, in line with the culture of selfishness, had kept silent and unconcerned while all these above-mentioned steps were taken against us and without our consent; but as it has come to a matter strictly of the heart, Nigerians have lost the privileges of keeping mute and unconcerned. Either way, Nigeria must shake. By the way, Nigeria was never built to stand and it was finally nailed to the coffin on the Biafran soil filled with the blood of all those killed in the genocide. According to America’s prediction, Nigeria is due for a breakup by 2015, but it looks like these Islamic extremists have no respect for predictions or patience; Al-Qaeda has waited longer than necessary, in their calculation, to pounce of Nigeria. ( Continues below..... )

Mohammed Yusuf's bullet-ridden body

Photo Above: Mohammed Yusuf's bullet-ridden body shown to journalists in a video hours on July 30, 2009 after Nigerian police announced they had captured him alive. Police said Yusuf was shot while trying to escape.

Whichever way the federal government chooses to take against these developments, a Sovereign National Conference remains the choicest and only peaceful alternative. It does not really matter if the name ‘Nigeria’ is replaced with ‘Islam’ and it means nothing if Nigerian currency’s name is changed into Boko Haram or Sharia; any country may choose any language for whatever they desire and they could write the name of who they worship in every material, every home, each meal, and every skin. It, however, matters deeply if these plans are being moved forward in Nigeria as long as Nigeria remains politically one. AS LONG AS NIGERIA REMAINS HINGED TO AND DEPENDENT ON BIAFRA’S PRESENCE, MEMBERSHIP AND SUPPORT TO SURVIVE, SHARIA LAW WILL NEVER HAVE RELEVANCE BEYOND THE NORTH. Nigeria will never be Islamized and Igbos will never have to read any portion of the Quran involuntarily. Unfortunately, Ojukwu will eventually be remembered by all Nigerians who may ever find their path to accepting and loving truths. It would be an unfortunate thing because, by the time everyone who is human enough in Nigeria sees the truth, the loss would be unbearable. I thank God, once again, for giving Nigerians another time to choose whom to serve: A God of love, tolerance, and freedom, or that of compulsion and destruction; the God who created life and treasures it, or the one who was created but lost his place in God’s blessings, who, as a result, goes about seeking unsuspecting, undiscerning, and weak souls to enslave and to devour. The crossroad is here and the moment of decision has come; everyone has lost the privilege of remaining silent and unconcerned, including you.

PolymathNigerians are tired from the Northern elites who feel the country is theirs alone.

This would have been a great write up if the author have checkmated his bigotry. In a haste to bastardized the North, rightfully so, and elevate the Igbos, he missed some facts.

Mr CandidI think this writer is a man of genuine guts, mature and humane. The truth must be said. Islam may claim that these blood thirsty devils are "only" hiding under the cloke of Islam to perpetrate evil but the truth remains that Islam provided that cloke. What do I mean? These beasts would not have any excuses for killing if Islam is in no way violent. Islam has always been violent. It advanced and continues to advance by violence. Violence is inherent in Islam. It is enshrined in the Quran and that is why you cannot separate violence from Islam. That is one of the reasons I disagree with those who say that Islam and Christianity serve the same person. Christians are enjoined to love even their enemies but Islam's remedy for enemity is violence, war and blood shed. If the excesses of Islamic extremism is not checked in Nigeria, Nigeria may be on its way to being splitted.

ChukaA word is enough for the wise talk less of an essay. We can all talk or argue but I am sure all of us know that Nigeria is going down the drain coutesy of Boko Haram and the intentional silence of all those that are in a good position to talk in the North. The reality is that when it goes down, we 'll not know those that it will erode but I am sure of one thing. No man that spills or supports the spilling of blood directly or indirectly will go scotch free not minding the religion or tribal affiliation. Let's keep watching!

ebitari JuliusThe boundaries of nations are set by God not by man or another nation. No matter what anybody say Nigeria as a nation cannot be split by the anger or frustration of anybody. The only thing we can do is to be just in all our individual and collective dealings with one another. The truth is that we like pointing accusing fingers at others while four fingers are actually pointing at us as the guilty party. What do we do daily as individuals or a group to advance Nigeria than looking for one official or one tribe to blame for our woes. All tribes, creed or religious groups are as good as those people who are part of them. Whether we belong to Boko Haram, Islam, Christian, Igbo, Ijaw, Yoruba or any other religious or tribal grouping in Nigeria, we are all Nigerian deeply in our hearts wishing the best for Nigeria. Therefore insulting one another is not part of that wish. Please Nigerians let us respect one another where ever we are today . Thank you and God bless us all. Amen

Habila IsmailaMy hero Ikechukweu, I congratulate your confidence for coming out boldly to say the truth about the feature of Nigeria. I wish we can have a better Nigeria tomorrow only if our Christian leaders could see what you saw.The fight for this course should involved the amalgamation of all Christians in Nigeria as a Independent State. We knew that the Boko-Haram and Islamic Bank ideas are under the auspices of Islam in their beat and effort to islamize Nigeria but my problem is what will be the feature of we the Northern Christians after these partitions?. Remember us please.

Comment from: Habila Ismaila [Visitor]
Habila IsmailaIslam is a cult where you cannot gain your freedom even when you desired for such. In Islam, you cannot change to another religion because they are afraid that you will expose all their darkness to the world so they go further to eliminate you. But you see in Christianity, we don't accept such nasty behaviors if you like you worship the true God if you dont, you go ur way that is why you see some christian accepting bribes to become Muslim by corruption but our God is a God of choice not by force. No one force anyone for becoming a Christian unlike Islam which is good and acceptable treasure.

AminataYou can go on abusing Islam and northern Muslims till doomsday but the truth will still remain the same the same. You are what you are a pathological liar.A greedy begot who is blinded by your hatred for Muslims in general. Your scheme for devide and rule against the Muslims has long been exposed. The economy, the public service and indeed for the past ten years even the political sphere is being dominated by your people and yet you complain about the Muslim north. It is clear you are routing for total annihilation. Make no mistake about it that you can not succeed. You tried in 1966 and failed. You will fail again if you dare try again. As for going our separate ways, the north is not afraid. May be we will then get the oil exploration in the Chad Basin actualized. Do you think we are fools that there is oil in Chad and Niger Republics while there is non in Nigeria? By the way how come with all the powers at your disposal you people still fear the north and Islam. Please educate yourself. Go to Google and browse The Miracles of the Qoran

Comment from: Jay [Visitor]
JayFellow Nigerian. It's not Boko Haram fault. Just a cursory look at Muhammad's Qur'an (Koran) should be enough to warn you to keep your distance from Islam:

In it you will see "unbridled raw evil", such as statements like these:
- Truly, god loves those who fight
- Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them,
beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem.
- Chop off their hands and chop off their fingertips
- When you meet the unbelievers, chop off their heads
- Fight and slay those who don't convert wherever you find
them
- Believers, take neither Jew nor Christians for your friends
- Those who follow Muhammad are ruthless to unbelievers
- Those who reject Islam are "the vilest of creatures" and thus deserve
no mercy
- Fight them until Islam reigns supreme (throughout the world)

There are more than 100 verses in the Qur'an (Koran) advocating the use of violence to spread Islam. There are exactly 123 verses in the Qur'an about killing and fighting.

The word "Islam" has been falsely proclaimed by Muslims to mean peace. The word Islam, actually means "submission" to the Muslim god of intolerance and hatred. It comes from the root Arabic word "taslim". In Arabic, the word for peace is only "solh".
I wonder what kind of god muslims are serving. You can always know a false god.
False gods always demand the blood of innocents.
When a Muslim declares that Islam is a religion of peace, he/she is either ignorant of the Koran (Qur'an), or is deceitfully thinking of this "peace", as it extends only to those within the Muslim Community. The deceit is that they will not tell you exactly what they mean. According to the Qur'an: "Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are merciful to one another, but ruthless to unbelievers" Surah 48:29. "Kill the Mushrikun (unbelievers) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush..." Surah 9:5. Also see Surah 9:29: PICKTHAL: "Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture (Christians & Jews) as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His 'messenger', and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.". Please note that there is not a single verse in the entire Christian Bible that contains this "open-ended", universal command to kill/or be ruthless to unbelievers. Judge for yourself which religion really is a religion of peace. The emptiest barrel makes the loudest noise they. Y all this noise about islam is religion of peace when opposite is really the case. Religion of ruthlessness and brutality.

AdeyemiI am a proud yoruba man and I have always known that ojukwu was right. Nigeria has to split. Hausas are a major problem to the federation. Igbos may be uneducated as some people say, but who are the most industrial group of people in Nigeria, Igbo right? The south-west region is a mixture of the christians, moslems and the traditionnal worshipers and how many times have you heard of religious fighting in the region? it is there but rare. The problem of the north is illiteracy. If we divide, we all suffer at first but we are going to reap the benefits later. The north will go back into their "groundnut pyramids" and make effective use of the sunlight, the south-south- they will learn to manage their oil well coz they need to eat and most of their lands are not arable. It's time to divide.

SJI agree that we have our issues as a nation, but i am not convinced separating or dividing based on tribes is the absolute solution to the religious and tribal violence we face.Irrespective of the tribe or religion, majority of our leaders: past and present have failed distinctively to harmonize this country so also are we the followers. We have continually allowed frivolities and mediocrity eaten so deep into our system for the cause of tribe and religion. A nation that shy away from hard work and merit is bound to fail regardless of the religious sect or tribe governing it.Leaders should lead by example and followers should criticize with fair sense of judgement, proffering sensible and unbiased solution to problems.
Our Society today celebrates success without investigating how it's been achieved. Politicians bribe electorates to get to political offices, parents bribe teachers for there wards to pass WAEC,undergraduates swindle over the internet to be millionaires etc,yet we blame our adversities on tribe and religion. we should as a nation be truthful to ourselves, promote merit and also be an active member of our society by guiding our leaders and act as if we have no place to go.
Boko-Haram, religious killings, etc are menace of a civil society, we should deal with it accordingly without bias for a tribe or religion. Any Muslim, Christian, igbo, hausa, yoruba, ijaw, any tribe and even traditional worshipers that causes unrest of any form should be tried in isolation to the tribe or religion they belong. Our nation is a secular-state and should be respected as such.

Chris IloghoThere is no need for fellow Nigerians to express bitterness against one another in this forum. There is freedom of expression, but that liberty must be used responssibly. If any reader finds the essay offensive, all you need do is to puncture the points one by one with facts and readers will be better enlightened by superior facts. There is no need to avoid the issues raised and insult persons instead of issues. Its only those who fear the truth that will be bitter at its disclosure. Its true that all religions-christianity,islam,judaism,hindu,paganism etc have their bad eggs. There are also good people too in all religions. As for the issue of Boko Haram, its curious and sad that no prominent Northerner apart from J.T.Useini has publicly condemned their activities. The Sultan even came out openly and defended them.He went on to call for war if Islamic bank is not introduced to Nigeria. It is true that some christian criminals in the South rape and kidnap even their mothers. Its true that Nigerian languages were removed from our Naira and replaced with Arabic inscriptions without basis. Religion should not be taken that far,we are Africans not Arabs or Jews. But this was not done by the average Northerner or the moslems. They do not even know about all these intrigues which are the games of our leaders just to preoccupy us and divert our attention from their unholy co-operation at milking the nation dry.Was it not Prof Soludo,a christian, that introduced Islamic Banking? The bank should be allowed, its just a bank.I don't see how it will islamise Nigeria.I have more sincere friends who are moslems than those who are christians. Some fellow christians have even duped me in the past. The Nigeria case is a paradox. We all mouth one inseparable Nigeria, its the secret dream of every sincere Nigeria that we split so that we can make genuine progress as peoples. As for some of the Northern commentators who expressed so much hatred for the Igbos, why not let them go if you hate them so much. One sure thing is that we are interdependent. My part of Edo State has no oil,but I bet we will never be worse off if we are left alone to progress alone with honest labour!

Chris IloghoBreakup is not the solution but going by our long history of bickering, strife and failures, what is so sancrosanct about oneness? The land mass will not shift and our colour as Africans will remain, meaning our kinship and brotherliness will be strenghtened as individual nationalities. Europeans have fragmented nation states yet they act with oneness. Here we are one but live like bitter enemies, such that we cannot make progress. If a train has three engines pulling at different directions, will it make progress. Even the christianity and islam we claim to profess will not work for us as the heavens will be closed above us with all these killings and bombings and kidnappings all over the place.

galkuFor Daring to Arrest “ECOMOG Killer Squad”
…How the Army allegedly ‘Sacrifices’ Gen. Monguno
…Fati Ali Sheriff’s Brother, Abba, Fingered as the alleged Killer of Mustapha Bale

By OUR CORRESPONDENT

The gargantuan economic and political shenanigan and malfeasance allegedly perpetrated and superintended by the immediate past Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, are gradually being unravelled. The alleged atrocities of the ex-Governor are two or three dimensional, and each has far reaching consequences to Borno State in particular and the Northern part of the country at large. The most recent is the allegation that Ali Sheriff indeed was the mastermind of the spate of political killings of fellow party soul mates, which has long been insinuated to be an insider work, robed in the garb of Boko Haram but which in reality was just a smokescreen to hoodwink the people.

The truth about most of the killings of high level politicians in Borno State has since been found to have nothing to do with the Boko Haram sect, which has, in most cases, dissociated itself from them for the umpteenth time.

It has come to light that the recent arrests of some core members of the notorious gang of political hooligans and suspected ”killer ECOMOG” by the military on the allegation that the gang members were responsible for those politically motivated killings of former gubernatorial candidate of the ANPP, Fannami Gubio, and ex ANPP North East Chairman, Awana Ngala, as well as the sudden transfer of Major General Mohammed Monguno as the Chief of Defence Intelligence, who after intelligence gathering on the activities of Ali Sheriff’s ‘ECOMOG’ reportedly organised the arrest of the alleged murderers, were all the handiwork of the immediate past governor of Borno State.

Major General Babagana Monguno, is Borno’s only serving two-star General. It has long been reasonably argued by observers that the senseless killings of mostly ANPP members cannot be the work of Boko Haram militants who have long established the reputation of carefully picking their targets, most times writing to such targets and owning up to it after the deed has been done. The rush by Ali Sheriff to always pre-empt such issues by immediately blaming opposition political elements for such politically motivated killings as well as his penchant to rush to Abuja allegedly with millions of Dollars to bribe key security officials tended to sway the belief that he indeed has something to hide.

General Monguno, an indigene of Borno State and in his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) of the Nigerian Army according to credible inside sources that pleaded not to be mentioned was said to have gotten sufficient and justifiable security reasons to suspect foul play in the spate of killings in the state and after going through the routine of further checks and obtaining the necessary superior go-ahead sent a company of about two hundred undercover operatives from his unit and landed them in Borno State to go underground and investigate the genesis of the killings and check out who could have been responsible for them. Monguno’s effort according to them has unravelled so much about the man Ali Sheriff and how he allegedly uses armed political thugs like the “ECOMOG” to silence any political obstacle, threat or to pave the way for the grand plan to succeed.

Between February through April 2011, according to reports, the military intelligent agents conducted thorough investigation and found out that some members of the dreaded Ali Sheriff’s personal political thugs known as “ECOMOG” have been the key perpetrators of such killings and it soon dawned on the nation’s security organs that these political thugs have systematically been trained and armed to the teeth by their paymaster who unleashed them on the state with orders to kill fellow political associates in order to create fear and generate tension to justify the deployment of thousands of armed soldiers and policemen into the state, shift the blame to the Boko Haram elements, put the PDP on the defensive so as to make some political capital out of it, spread fear in the state to find cover to commit political atrocities, rig the May 2011 general elections, silence political associates seen as a threat to his political calculations and generally cause an upheaval to detract people and government from insisting on instituting a probe into the large scale and unpardonable financial recklessness that was reportedly the order of the day in his eight year rule of “unspeakable and unprecedented thievery of the common patrimony of Borno State”, a source lamented.

DESERT HERALD learnt that as soon as the complicity of the political thugs in the killings was established, General Monguno was ordered to pick those involved for further interrogation to establish the nature of their operations and to get across to their financiers to make them answer to their misdeeds and to bring the killings to an end. In the cause of investigation in Abuja where the notorious political thugs were taken to, this paper gathered that the accused persons developed cold feet and begged not to be tortured and offered to fully cooperate. They were said to have sang like canaries by first admitting that the guns they were using to kill were procured and given to them as well as told who to kill by Ali Modu Sheriff. An insider amongst the team of interrogators told this newspaper that at the end of it all, incontrovertible facts were established as to the culpability of Ali Sheriff as the man who has been responsible for the deterioration of security in Borno State.

It was at this point, this reporter learnt, that the true colours of Ali Sheriff came to light. Long before this stage the former governor who woefully lost his bid to return to the senate on account of his unpopularity in the state and his alleged role in the uprising has according to keen observers of Borno politics established a reputation as “Nigeria’s most reckless, most audacious and most free-spending briber. He has, since his emergence as Governor, been able to reach out to many top government, security, electoral and judicial officials who could be of help in any of his political enterprise”. It was alleged that since he was able to compromise as high a person as former President Obasanjo, no Nigerian, no matter his pedigree could extricate himself from the Ali Sheriff’s bribery machine. Our sources in Abuja revealed that even before this revelation of complicity in the political murders, no one, either in the presidency or anywhere of substance that has not, at one time or the other, benefitted from the largesse of Ali Sheriff and at very monumental level. An insider confided in this paper that the Chief of Staff in the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan was known by many as the one advancing the Ali Sheriff’s notoriety in the presidency. He further disclosed on condition of anonymity that “the National Security Adviser, top level INEC officials, top level judicial officers, top military and police brass have allegedly been on the payroll of Ali Sheriff and it is through them that the ex governor is reputed to be capable of sabotaging any untoward searchlight on him or his activities particularly those related to the Boko Haram sect and his relationship with late Mohammed Yusuf”.

An associate of the former governor, who has recently fallen out with him and who run the most recent bribery errand for him, told our Correspondent in confidence that a total of Fifty Million Dollars was shared among some top security officials to put a stop to the investigation on his complicity in the murders, to sack General Monguno from the headship of the investigating panel and his posting as the Chief of Defence Intelligence as well as the release of some of the suspects from detention. Even though the Chief of Defence Staff was said to have done his level best to stop anybody from sabotaging the case or transferring General Monguno out of his unit, he soon capitulated according to insiders and as today, Ali Sheriff has succeeded in achieving two of his demands. The investigation our source revealed has stopped all together and General Monguno, Borno’s only two-star General in the Nigerian Army, has been relieved of his duties and has since been posted as Chief of Army Logistics. Another reliable source confided in this paper that the process of persecuting him which may lead to his eventual sack from the Army has started. In fact, Ali Sheriff was overheard bragging in Saudi Arabia during the last Ramadan Umrah that “he has brought General Monguno down and will soon orchestrate his sack from the military altogether”, our source revealed.

DESERT HERALD Correspondent, who was also in Saudi Arabia during the Umrah and who stumbled on this information, also learnt that the next assignment for the former governor is to get “his killer squad out of detention and freed to continue with their killing spree. Ali Sheriff swore, in the presence of many people including politicians that nobody in Nigeria can cause him any harm even if all the security agencies were able to establish anything against him. He believed that the entire chain in the prosecution process has been compromised and cannot therefore act against him,” our source in Saudi Arabia confirmed overhearing Ali Sheriff as boasting.

Apart from unravelling the involvement of Ali Sheriff’s “ECOMOG” in most of the politically motivated killings in Borno by the Defense Intelligence of the Nigerian Army under its former head, Gen. Monguno, what devastated Sheriff again and compel him to reachout to various security agencies and to plot the removal of the Borno born Army General from the intelligence unit of the army as exclusively gathered by DESERT HERALD is the alleged culpability of his brother in-law, Abba Lawan Dawud in the murder of the former chairman of Jere Local Government, late Mustapha Bale by Gen. Monguno’s unit. Bale’s assassination was initially blamed on the Boko Haram sect but our security sources revealed that there is enough evidence that link the blood brother of Fati Ali Sheriff, Lawan Dawud in Bale’s murder. Abba Lawan Dawud apart from being an in-law to Ali Sheriff equally serve as his SA before he was made a member of the Federal House of Representatives on the influence of the once powerful Maman Borno, Fati Ali Sheriff.

When it appears glaring that Dawud is in trouble and may be arrested by Monguno for the alleged murder of Mustapha Bale a credible source confided in DESERT HERALD, Fati Ali Sheriff in desperation to save her brother visited the mother of Gen. Monguno and pleaded with her to prevail in her son to halt or frustrate further investigation on the issue as the only alternative of sparing Dawud from possible arrest and prosecution. When her effort failed and Gen. Monguno vowed to ensure justice and save Borno from such unwarranted political killings according to our source, her husband, Ali Sheriff took over with alleged bribery of millions of naira to ensure Monguno’s sack as the head of the intelligence unit hence his abrupt and unceremonious exit as the head of intelligence agency.

Under Mr. Jonathan’s presidency according to some military sources that don’t want their names in print, “the Northern part of the country is already being decimated in the Army with top officers targeted for persecution. Another Major General, Sarkin Yaki Bello, who once headed the Joint Task Force, which brought peace in the Niger Delta, and who was until recently, the GOC 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, was recently transferred out and is now relegated to a Special Adviser to the President on Terrorism”, one of the source revealed. Several other officers of Northern extraction according to him, who hold sensitive positions in the Army, have been targeted for the same fate and it is under this emergency situation that Ali Sheriff is allegedly throwing money around to add salt to the injury of the North.

But DESERT HERALD findings revealed that apart from the controversial removal of Gen. Monguno recently from the intelligence unit of the army, the Nigeria Military still maintains the culture of balance and competence in postings and appointments and has done so much recently to ensure that politics did not infiltrate its rank and file.

In truth and to many Ali Sheriff has proved to be a master briber. He is known as capable of offering any amount to a person he believes holds the key to realizing his objectives. A former commissioner in his cabinet told this reporter that “Sheriff has been able to deliberately amass so much wealth through massive looting of the treasury with the purpose of positioning himself to compromise people in the prosecution chain in order to have his ways. When former EFCC Boss Nuhu Ribadu disqualified Ali Sheriff alongside others from contesting the 2007 elections based on proven cases of corruption, Ali Sheriff was alleged to have gone to President Obasanjo, prostrated at the foot of Obasanjo, shedding tears and begging for the president’s intervention. Ribadu was alleged to have been summoned to the Villa where he met Sheriff in a pitiable state still at the foot of Obasanjo. The rest of what happened was known to everybody. In reality, Obasanjo sees himself as the godfather to Ali Sheriff purely on the basis of Sheriff’s total abeyance, loyalty and capacity to do the old man’s biddings including ferrying foreign damsels on chartered flights from as far a place as Ethiopia. Along the way, Sheriff got close to Obasanjo when he found a way to transport trailer loads of specially fattened cows to the Otta farm as well as running some very despicable errands all at the expense of the people of Borno State. Obasanjo was alleged to have stooped so low as receiving cash gratification running into billions of Naira from the former governor.

The question to ask is: Is the Nigerian security and judicial system as soulless and unpatriotic as to fall prey to this individual whose only strong point is that he has money to spread about but whose action is clearly plunging this country into a cauldron of violence capable of tearing Nigeria apart? Is Ali Sheriff going to get his wish of getting confirmed murderers out of detention? Can he compromise top military officers to get a two star General into trouble leading to his alleged persecution for daring to do his job? How can the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan achieve lasting peace in Borno and other parts of the country while alleged perpetrators of the uprising and the political killings are allegedly using the presidency to always have their ways? Can the president fight the so called terrorism and win in such brazen display of double standard? Can it be achieved in a nation where many other privileged citizens like Sheriff are clearly above the law and in a nation where money can do anything? Can Nigeria afford to go through such ignoble killing era just because one man wanted it to be so? Must Nigeria go to blazes in order for a known individual to go free? Are we that liverle

As regards "Eze's" Argument, who said prostitution was crime? If you do not petronise prostitutes(like me), then stay in your house! They didn't rape you did they? They wouldn't exploit or violate you without your full concent, so what is their crime? Wouldn't you rather there were Legal prostutes who practised Safely, than Nigerian women who hide and practice? The actual criminals are the ones who kill the innocent in WHATEVER name. Nigeria is failing because it has failed to be free. Freedom no matter how bad it may seem must NOT be compromised for anything else!

Futhermore, it is high time Religions and tribes concerned addressed this issue of Violence and blood shed once and for all!

If all Nigerians cannot arrive at a consensus, in the spirit of Freedom and EQUAITY, rather then the missleading concept of EQUITY, Nigeria is better of in parts (A State land for those who agree to equality, and one for those who don't.)

teacher gYou are an idiot calling Islam a religion of foolish whatever, u don't know the basis in which u'r foolish religion that has no purpose was based on. Ignorant hypocrites. Islam preaches peace, it does not permit terrorism, so don't generalize shit u don't know the meaning of. Don't insult our religion just because yours is incompetent. Ingnorant fools.

amahOne thing you must understand is that no human being can fight for God.What ever you called yourself wether muslim or christian you all needs to watch your languages. mind you no body born of a woman can brake our beloved one Nigeria. And they only war we can fight is the only one we fought from 1967-1970. The only war we have is mouth and pen war.On the solid ground we stand which is the Almight God.Finally we should learn to tell our self and our unborn children and the nation at larger the truth. meanwhile we should stop throwing stone in the market becos we do not know whom it will fall on his head.hence the blood we have sheed is enough.

OmeibuaOne thing is clear, no forced marriage ever works, unless somehow a uniting factor is introduced. In the case of Nigeria, it is still the case, as someone once said, the basis for unity does not exist. Let us stop fooling ourselves folks. To dream of forcing people into your religion is a pipedream that Musilms all over the world unfortunately embark on, to their detriment. Even amongs Moslems there are deadly rivalries. Iraq still burns today on secterian basis. What is there to gain from such? Not even the dream of seventy-two virgins. Come to think about it, why die for the sake of virgins? You fools can have mine please but let us rest! Stupib cave men!
