*Nigeria: Governor Obi Explains Return of Schools
Governor Peter Obi says return of school to their original mission owners is part of measures to promote qualitative education and protect the future of children. Governor Obi was speaking at an interactive session with leaders and secretaries of the women wing of Anambra State Association of Town Unions at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Governor Obi said Children should be properly equipped with qualitative education and strong moral and social values to be productive citizens and contribute positively to nation- building, as well as compete favourably with their counter-parts across the world.
He reminded management of various schools that Igbo language is compulsory in all primary and secondary schools, while students who distinguish themselves in Igbon language will continue to be rewarded by the State Government. ( Continues below….. )

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ego Uzoezie noted that Governor Obi administration hasd remained responsive to the need and aspirations of the people, the down trodden under-privileged and the vulnerable. She expressed gratitude to him for adequate empowerment of women to contribute in rebuilding the state.
The leader of the Women Wing of ASATU, Dr. Chinelo Okechukwu said the present administration had given women voice and opportunities to register stronger presence in the society. She noted that Governor’s regular interaction with the people hasd bridged communication gap and encouraged mass participation in governance as well as the first governor to carry women along.
