*Nigeria: Kunle Adegoke Apologizes To Ndigbo For Internet Statement

-Masterweb Reports

Below is an apology to Ndigbo from Kunle Adegoke with respect to tribal backlash and threats emanating from forum comment he made in anger in response to what he saw as ethnic attacks on Yorubas by a group of Igbos. He said people have been calling and threatening him mostly from the Diaspora with regards to his forum post. He says the statement was made in anger and from the bottom of his heart, sincerely apologizes to Ndigbo.

BELOW IS ADEGOKE'S EMAIL TO MASTERWEB REPORTS AFTER HIS PHONE CHAT WITH US

_______________________________

Sir,

I am forwarding this to buttress the fact that i do not have anything against an average igbo man or woman. The stand maintained by the man 'Africa Today' as shown below is a testimony to the fact that all he is concerned with is just to cause war by a campaign of ethnic irredentism. I do not think that is what we need.

Kindly help publish as you may consider appropriate.

Merry xmas in advance.

BELOW IS ADEGOKE'S APOLOGY-POSTING ON NIGERIAN & IGBO FORUMS (FORA)

From: kunle adegoke sultanadegoke@yahoo.co.uk
Sent: Tuesday, 20 December 2011, 20:26
Subject: Re: GENOCIDE PREACHERS - VAL OJO, AFIS, BOLAJI ALUKO AND KUNLE ADEGOKE APOLOGY

*Note: "Africa Today" is an alias or business name used by one of the Igbo forumnites that Adegoke got entangled with that resulted to his anger-post.

Africa Today,

THIS APOLOGY IS SERIOUS AND NOT A FLY BYE.

I WAS THINKING THAT MY OFFENSIVE POSTING WAS ONE OF THOSE ANGRY RIPOSTES THAT HAD DOMINATED DISCUSSIONS ON SEVERAL FORA HERE TO WHICH NO SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES WERE MEANT TO BE ATTACHED.

BUT YOU SEEM TO BE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO JUSTIFY YOUR MINDSET THAT YORUBAS HATE IGBO. I KNEW I FELL INTO YOUR TRAP CHEAPLY BUT I DO NOT WANT UNNECESSARY WAR ONLY BORNE OUT OF HATRED NURSED BY A DANGEROUS FEW.

WHILE YOUR IDENTITY IS STILL WRAPPED IN MASKS, I BELIEVE THE NEED FOR UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD AND PEACE TRANSCENDS IMMEDIATE ESTABLISHMENT OF IDENTITIES. LET US STOP THIS CALL FOR ETHNIC VIGILANCE AS IGBO'S INVESTMENTS IN LAGOS BENEFIT EVERYONE TO THE EXTENT THAT THE LAGOS CABINET EVEN ACCOMMODATES IGBO REPRESENTATION.

TO ALL, ONCE AGAIN, LET US MOVE FORWARD AND RATHER ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS CONFRONTING US AS A PEOPLE. A POOR MAN IN KANO IS A POOR MAN IN CALABAR, ENUGU, ABUJA AND OSOGBO. LET THE SPIRIT OF YULETUDE MINISTER PEACE UNTO OUR HEARTS AND NOT HATRED. AFRICA TODAY, LET US STOP THE ETHNIC IRREDENTIST CAMPAIGNS AND ADDRESS A COMMON FUTURE.

THANK YOU AND HAPPY XMAS.

Kunle Adegoke
Solicitor & Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria

OfoelueBalderdash! this is not an apology. Adegoke wants to tell Igbos that he holds nothing against them? He should do that. he hs not said anything in this rubbish he did here.

OtehI get worried when I consider the way Nigerians of other tribes Flagrantly and recklessly insult the entire IGBO Tribe at the slightest opportunity; as if the other Nigerian tribes are saints, while all Igbos are villains. Let us all be informed that every tribe in Nigeria has her 'Good', her 'bad' and her 'ugly'.

Dear ADEGOKE I hope your seeming APOLOGY to IGBOS is sincere.

Onu OtileThe Igbos should let this jigging fool live. He is voicing what he learnt from his predecessors and he cannot claim to have had any direct offensive dealings with any Igboman. All that his Papa Awo did:betray the Igbos, accepted to serve under Gowon, created opportunity for his folks and finally acquired Didiolu estate with the blood money, where is he today. The sage died in his sleep and the children of Biafra that died of starvation ( a weapon he defended) open handedly welcomed him in the spirit world. So must all of us after sitting on truth for so long. One day the Aburi accord will published for the world to see and be the judge on whether that war was avoidable.

Muhammad YaroOnu Otile, I subscribe to your comment One hundred percent, for I am yet to meet a Yoruba man, no matter how well educated, who has no ethnic prejudices in favor of Awo/Odouwa/Afenifere.Try to do anything similar, the whole yaruba race descends on you with all the noise they could make.
12/24/11 @ 04:59
Comment from: Muhammad Yaro [Visitor]
Muhammad YaroI also think that the Igbos should never forget that a Yoruba man can hardly deviate from the path laid by his ancestors no matter how well educated. This is why ethnic prejudices must be expressed by them sometimes in extreme forms, in order to be accepted by their community(Odouwa,Afenifere, etc).

Mohammed Alkalii cry for Nigeria. While other countries are moving ahead in science & technology we're still hiding behind tribe & ethnicity to hide our incompetence or when we steal funds meant for the common good of our people. The time has come for us to rise above primordial sentiments and celebrate scholarship, hardwork, service to the people, positive contributions to the development of our country.

Comment from: Henry Agboma [Visitor]
Henry AgbomaWhen we work towards the common good of the people, without any pride or prejudice on ethnic groupings we grow. being gud or bad has nothing to do with ethnic cos i hav gud friends from Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa just as i have friends from these regions who have equally betrayed me. we should refrain from generalization

OlusolaKunle Adegoke should please delete his telephone and designation, if truly he has got any, from his posts. Who is interested in contacting him for his said offending posts? Can’t you keep the heads of members of your family from troubles you are drawing upon yourself?

I do not have problems with people from any region of Nigeria. Kunle cannot also be taken to be speaking the minds of the entire Yorubas; I don't know what he has posted.

From what I read, especially from the Vangard publications on the person of Ojukwu, the man is said to be very intelligent, well and soundly educated and from a rich family. That war is both avoidable and unavoidable. The war was unavoidable because it was it has come and gone. Also as a soldier, Ojukwu could not have thought of any other solution than war to question the rationale behind systematic slaughtering of Igbo people by ... at his time. I think it was also the same love for his people that made the war lasted for so short. If he had been power hungry, as some had suspected when he joined army as educated as he was, all Nigerians would have tell. Ojukwu could easily have been a Senator, a Governor, a Minister, but he hold no political office than been he founder of a political party in further attempt and a message for Igbo people, once so united, to speak in one politically. The problem of Igbo nation after Ojukwu is not in any other tribal nationalities in Nigeria, but within Igbo herself. Igbos should no be distracted by any post but must concentrate in having a substitute to their leader and be united. The only test of Igbo unity is no longer in getting the Biafra nation but in ensuring bridges of unity within and without are built such that an Igbo man make it to the Aso rock, in the shortest possible time. Then we all know that Ojukwu has not fought in vain.

War is bad. Anyone who had read sun set at dawn, and other books from fine Igbo authors on the war will weep at what sufferings, people, especially the Igbo people went through before and during the war. Nobody should condemn or provoke the Igbos after suffering so much.

May we have no more war in Nigeria! May God stop the hands of those whose duty is just to provoke others by unspeakable injustices. Long live Nigeria!

Moses IlesanmiWell, I will not pretend to know the genesis of this brouhaha. One thing I know for sure is that late Chief O. E. Ojukwu is A GREAT LEADER that we all need to be proud of. He was never ambitious but a patriot with his own mind. I cherished him because he was a family man with very strong passion for the liberation of his people from the then prevailing tribulations. Someone else probably would have done what he did if he had failed to react swiftly. At least his action helped the quick release of Chief Obafemi Awolowo from prison. Of course, he was not the one that imprisoned the leader of Yoruba race. Whatever, we are all brothers and sisters.

Comment from: Mike [Visitor]
MikeIt's only a matter of time, but eventually the Yoruba would lose out in Nigeria. The stench of hatred that emanates from SW Nigeria, has always been suffocating. No body likes a snake, and a very wicked one at that. Every time I've heard someone in high places betray their hatred for a section of nigeria, it always turns out to be a Yoruba. From Obasanjo to Dupe Adelaja, to Fani Kayode, to the fellow that was the ambassador to the U.S, and now this little devil. I've observed the Yoruba for a while, and I would confidently declare that the vast majority of these people are dangerously tribalistic! Unfortunately, the opinions expressed by Mr. Adegoke, are not very far from what I've found to be prevalent among the Yoruba. Again, nobody likes a snake.

Uche MeforOga Masterweb, you and know that Adegoke's statement above is not an apology. There is no way this can translate to apology. And there is nowhere in this write up that he apologizes.

Besides,Adogoke by the way he is writing is still furher insulting the Igbos by willfully choosing to write in capital letters. This is a mark of arrogance and the statement is badly crafted and shows lack of respect and feeling. This man is Lawyer and he cannot accept this rubbish he put down here if anybody sends it to him.

My position is still what it is: any Igboman who is a party to any dispute where Adegoke is involved should raise alarm because he is baised and is not supposed to be in the position of solicitor/Advocate of the Supreme Court.Only God knows how many Igbomen this Igbo-hater and Genocide crusader has sentenced to eternal hardship if not sent to the world beyond.Igbos must boycott this man or perish in his genocidal court. This man has no place in a civilized society of today and he should resign his position remains a conflict of interest as 'custodian of justice'.

udeji samuelI wish Ojukwu is still alive today. I will pay him visit, inother to tap from his forsight. What he see over 40yrs ago even people like kunle are yet to see it now even when reason for the war are still clear before us. But for lawyer like him who read history to call Ikemba name at his dead he need to go back to school. I will give schoolarship. As lawyer i think he should be the one to advice Nigeria on what to do with Aburi accord. if he is sincer enough as Nigeria. Because without true federalisen our nation can't move foward. Then alone we will see sincerity in his apology then give honour to Ikemba and every igbo man for their love and desire to see a progressive Nigeria. Not this kind nation we have now. But if am kunle Adegoke i will be ashame to call myself a supreme court solistor in this kind of dead nation where people live without vision and forsight.

layoooI disagree with the muhammadu yaro, point of corrections, I have had dealings with people from the 4 regions of the country, and I have found out that it's not every yoruba man that hates ibo man,if I may ask you muhamadu or what do you call yourself? has there ever been any senseless fighting that involves mass murder of the ibos any where in lagos or southwest by the yoruba people? so keep quiet and stay of this matter, you are not qualify to even talk here, this man called kunle to me seems to be out of his mind, he was just being stupid for making a statement that could incite war, he is an idiot, apology or no apology, people think before they talk but he seems to talk before he thinks, not even a family court clerk would make that kind of careless statement, looking at the monumental loss of lives of mainly igbo people at the madalla church, but whether we want to face the reality or not nig is on her pathway to disintegration if you like insult me, the biafrans deserve to live their lives like any other people on earth.

Comment from: ola [Visitor]
olal don't know the lbo problems, they always like to hear the Yoruba views, why can't they talk to the Hausa that kill them like fows, they can't have their income without the Yoruba. They get their money by 419 business, kidnapping, selling of Tokunbo items all in Yorubaland, why can't they go their land to do that. Has any Yorubaman gone outside his land to establish the way other people do in our land. That's why we will always lead other tribes either they like it or not. God has made us thier head. Remeber this:
B4 1960 Zik robbed Awo of Prime Ministership.
Caused the Fed house of legislative to rubbish Awo.
He was happy to almagamate west east and north.
Awo wanted Oodua nation, Balewa wanted his but I Before Others Zik wanted Nigeria for his gain.
1962 he caused ripples in Yorubaland, sent Awo to jail
He declared state of Emergency and yet established Midwestern region.
At the end the Ibo coup plotters spare him and others but killed Awo conspirators in the country.
Ojukwu was an innocent man wanting Awo to help him in fighting the Hausa, but Awo used the opportunity to show the difference btw wisdom and power and to finally reduce the Ibos to nothing, he paid back to them what they deserved. Even if Nigeria breaks today Ibo will still beg the Yoruba to work with them and work under them.
We don't need you to determine our future, we dictate for others not vice versa. So Ibo e nu go?

Comment from: dozie [Visitor]
dozieMr Ola, I pity your foolishness, u really think we Igbos are under you?...i laugh in Igbo. Take a stroll on your street, count the number of beggars, if u find any igbo man begging on the streets i'll denounce my ethnicity. Ask fashola, he wants to get rid of yoruba and hausa beggars and parasites like you so he can achieve his mega city goals. You say the igbos are under you? yes we may be marginalized but the SE and SS has the lowest poverty rate compared to yorubaland and the north (even with the 20 pounds AWO gave us). I have never written any tribal-inspired stuff like this but i'm angry and i'll tell you to your face that you are a beggar in your own land and your Awolowo was nothing but a celebrated infant killer. Economically, we are better off, politically, the hausa-fulani have conquered and taken Yorubaland since 250 years ago(remember Dan fodio, Illorin, Oyo) and are still conquering your mentality, the Emir of illorin is far more powerful than all your Obas rolled into one. The whole knows who the backstabbers, cowards, sellout and losers are...the yoruba like you.
