A former aspirant for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ifeanyi Ibezi and about two thousand others decamped from Action Congress of Nigeria and Accord Party to join the All Progressives grand Alliance. The ceremony took place at the Idemili North Headquarters Ogidi. The decampees were from the twenty-four wards of Idemili North and South Local Government Councils.

Speaking on behalf of others, Chief Ibezi apologized to the people of Idemili for his initial mistake of joining what he called the wrong and alien political party. He said he had now identified his political base and resolved to build his political future in APGA which he noted was protecting and projecting the collective interest of Ndigbo. Hei said his former political party would be dislodged and uprooted from the area.

He extolled the sustained efforts of the Governor to liberate and give voice to Ndigbo, noting that he is the first Governor to initiate infrastructural revolution and integrated development across the State.

Receiving the decampee, Governor Obi commended them for the wise decision to be part of the wind of change and efforts of Ndigbo to forge a common front to establish a stronger presence in national affairs and justify the selfless service and contribution of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. He made clear that he has no intention whatsoever to join another political party and expressed satisfaction that the State now has a towering image and has become source of pride to the people.

The Deputy State Chairman of APGA Chief Ifeanyi Udokwu said the party would not relent in giving Ndigbo a pride of place.
