*Ojukwu: Obi Has Done Well -Oguejiofor
A community leader in Anambra State, Chief Anthony Agidigbo Oguejiofor has appealed to the Igbos everywhere they are to thank Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra for the care and love he extended to Dim Chukwuemeneka Odumegwu-Ojukwu when he was ill. He said this yesterday while speaking to journalist in Nnewi.
Oguejiofor, who said he followed the progress of Ojukwu since November last year he was flown to London for treatment, said it was uncommon for a Governor to have visited him 9 times as Gov. Obi did in London in less than a year. He said that by his action, Obi showed us the value he placed on the man, Ojukwu. “But looking at the euphoria that greeted his death and the some many positive tributes, one is inclined to believe that Obi was right”, he said.
Oguejiofor thanked the Governor for not joining in the league of those claiming to be anointed by Ojukwu or were present when Ojukwu anointed the person that would replace him, saying that he had shown enough leadership to the Igbo people characterised by sacrifice, which, according to him, the people were taking notice off. On the specific sacrifices Obi made for Ojukwu, Agidigbi said that even when he celebrated his last birthday on the 4th of November, 2011, that his wife, Bianca Odumwgwu-Ojukwu said it herself that Obi was responsible for the hospital and other bills running into hundreds of thousands of Naira. He also said that the burial Committee had revealed that Obi was the major figure behind the huge success of the burial ceremony.
Thanking other Governors for their own contributions, Oguejiofor said that Obi had shown that he would always rise to any occasion, be it developmental as he was doing in the State or through any other acts that would bring glory to the people of the State, as he did with the burial of Ojukwu.
