Danjuma's Oil Wells And The Murmurings of Nigerians

Danjuma's Oil Wells And The Murmurings of Nigerians

*Danjuma's Oil Wells And The Murmurings of Nigerians

-Masterweb Reports (Submission By Obinna Akukwe)

Masterweb Reports - May 2, 2012: Theophilus Danjuma is not a person the Biafran people will forget in a hurry. He supervised the brutal killing of General Aguiyi Ironsi, the first military head of state of Nigeria. He was among the troops that invaded the Biafran territory during the civil war and was fabled to be heartless in the discharge of his duties towards Nigeria.

Theophilus Danjuma became a general in the Nigerian Army and it was said that he convinced Obasanjo to become Nigeria’s head of State after the assassination of fellow Biafran killer man, General Murtala Mohammed in 1976.

During the Obasanjo recycling presidential jamboree, Danjuma posited that if Obasanjo fails to win the 1999 presidential election, he will run away from Nigeria. Obasanjo won the election and rewarded him with the post of Minister for Defence and charged him with dismantling the military structure capable of truncating his democracy.

The sharing of national cake of oil block to PDP party men in the most non transparent manner is one of the fallout of the Nigerian brand of dictatorial democracy. Oil blocks worth about $2billion dollars auction value could be sold to a party faithful for as low as $500million dollars .The facilitators share the difference between the auction value and the real value among themselves in the ratio of 50:50. Or 60:40 in favor of the awarder, the facilitator or the government middleman who could be fronting for the strongman in the state house. ( Continues below….. )

Theophilus Danjuma

Theophilus Danjuma got his on a platter of gold. Late Head of State Sani Abacha awarded the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 246 to SAPETRO in February 1988. The block covers a total area of 2,590 square kilometers .SAPETRO partnered with Total Upstream Nigeria (TUPNI) and Brasoil Oil Services Company Limited (Petrobas) to start prospecting on OPL246. Akpo, a condensate field was discovered in April 2000 with drilling commencing in 2001. In 2006 Danjuma divested his investment in Akpo oil field to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for $1Billion dollars. However, Danjuma still had some conscience left in him. He paid tax of $500million dollars to the Nigerian state and had about $500 million dollars remaining. He then released $100 million dollars to the Nigerian people in the form of foundation for social responsibility projects. This sum as paltry as it seems is better than nothing. General Danjuma should do well to bring out more for the impoverished Nigerians.

This is where this former Biafran killer man towered above his fellow oil block commandeers. There are so many Nigerians from all the six geopolitical zones who have oil blocks. They include former presidents, former governors, former ministers, party chieftains, friends of government, serving and retired military officers especially service chiefs etc .To date there is no record of what they did with the proceeds of their oil blocks. They are building more estates, more refineries, factories etc outside the shores of Nigeria, especially Europe, America and the Middle East and recently South Africa. The rest of their proceeds they use to purchase INEC officials, impose candidates on the electorates, rig elections and throw fabulous victory dance and thanksgiving services. Others engage in frivolous constant reburials of long dead ones, constant acquisition of new wives, concubines , jets, private mansions all to the mockery of impoverished and ‘ancestrally cursed‘ fellow countrymen.

If all the people who cornered the nation’s resources in the name of oil blocks decide to bring twenty percent of their loot, the nation could raise about $40 billion dollars in a week. This amount translates to N6trillion naira, which is more than the entire Nigerian budget of $31 billion dollars for 2012.

How can a few set of Nigerians be so heartless, wicked and insensitive to the hungry faces around them that they cannot device a veritable means of giving back to the impoverished suffering ‘son of a bitch ‘countrymen what they obtained through processes that is far from transparent, it is shortof being called fraudulent. Danjuma received knocks when he announced what he did with his own commandeered resource. Nigerians called him a thief, but if Danjuma is a thief, what of the others who sat on their own oil proceeds never considered returning any back to the people. A friend of government who owns oil block took a young girl friend to Dubai in 2010 and gave her a gift of $1million dollars just to prove his everlasting love for the nagging babe. That is the kind of expenditure they do with their oil loot. ( Continues below….. )

Map of Nigeria

A lot of Nigerians have died in hospitals because they cannot pay medical bills, others have taken to robbery because they cannot see any gainful thing to do while another group takes to prostitution to raise money to pay school fees. Others are seeking for academic sponsors for educational improvement but cannot find. The list is endless and there is frustration palpable everywhere in Nigeria, yet a few Nigerians are so insensitive that they cannot surrender part of their loot back to the Nigerian masses from which they fraudulently commandeered their resources.

Danjuma had the conscience to surrender a part of what belongs to Nigeria which Obasanjo gave him when they were sharing the never ending national cake. Others should follow suit. They should repatriate these loots back home and use them to establish affordable universities, hospital services and other ventures capable of reducing frustrations on the streets. Others should equally build roads in their villages, provide transformers, pipe borne water for communities across Nigeria. There is equally need for scholarships for indigent students, sponsoring medical trips for acid victims and other traumatic and life threatening victims.. Some could fund sports and build sporting facilities for recreational and sports development purposes. Others could sponsor activities that brings up talents in the people. The list is endless. Farmers need to be given free or highly subsidized fertilizers; seedlings and storage facilities need to be built.

These oil block commandeers should as a matter of urgency borrow a leaf from Theophilus Danjuma , repent from insensitivity and take urgent steps to give back to the impoverished, frustrated Nigerians what they collected through the back door. Failure to do so and urgently too, a time will come when even God will engineer the people against them and there will be no end to their calamities.

Dr Fortune UkonuLet me assume this write-up is factual and if it is factual, one is constrained to say that heaven knows no fury like a scorned woman. Information about the sharing of Nigerian oil wells by Danjuma, Obasanjo, Abacha, Babangida and other privileged individuals i disturbing but the main issue now is how to revoke the ownership of these oil wells.

One can remembered that Theophilus Danjuma's long time friendship with Obasanjo was badly strained when Obasanjo pleaded Danjuma to support him for the third term presidency when Danjuma refused citing that such is against the Nigrian constitution. To this moment, Obasanjo friendship with Danjuma has never recovered.

Revoking the licences of present oil well owners in Nigeria can be achieved. To achieve that, the following steps are necessary:

Step One: Continuous agitations over it on newspapers, internets, and discussing about it with friends over the telephones in Nigeria and overseas while calling for revocation of the licences awarded.

Step Two: Voting PDP out of government and voting in any other credible political party capable of exposing the criminalities, corruptions and evils committed by the PDP. People should catalogue the failures of PDP since becoming the ruling government in Nigeria.

Step Three: Continuous discussing the urgent need for a revolution in Nigeria and how such could benefit the impoverished Nigerians and the seizing of the assets of the corrupt politicians and public officers in Nigeria. Nigerians could borrow a leaf from the Arab springs with slight improvementts on the methodology.

Step Four: Embark on peaceful demonstration and never allow it to be higjacked by anarchists.

Although, it is expected that the owners of these oil wells may have placated some of the electorates with the revenue derived from these oil wells, Nigerians can still demand for the revocation of the oil wells and they will succeed in the end.

ceejayU know, after going through this write-up i begin to wonder why God allows evil men like these to exist. Just take a walk down the streets of Lagos alone and see how Nigerians are suffering yet we have so-called brothers who have illegally helped themselves by looting the national treasury yet with all that money they still find it difficult to help alleviate the sufferings of their people. Just what do they intends to benefit by stashing away those billions in the banks when it's clear to them that they would die soon living those loots behind... Why not do what's right now they are still alive? hhmmmm... I do hope that God truly exist and that he 'll make these heartless criminals reap the rewards of their callousness before they die.

Yet we have leaders with so much money.. some don't even know what to do with these money anymore... yet they are watching us the youth of this country languishing in penury. This tells you why most of our youths took to scam and other sorts of ill manners just to make ends meat. Pls it's high time our leaders stood up and show they deserve that leadership tags on them... Sunny MetuThe issue at hand is this "Fuel subsidy N1.7trillion" sleazy deal . Please nobody should distract us from this Oil Subsidy issue. In civilzed Western democracies, the Oil Minister, underwhose watch the fraud was committed should have voluntarily resigned. The Finance Minister , under whose bad mathematical skill , the fuel increase was approved , should have been long been gone. . .while the rest of the bunch ( including the 2 afore-mentioned) ministers , wait for their day in Court! .I hope the NLC & TUC leadership are watching very closely . After all the arithmentic , well done , there is no reason for Nigerians to pay any more than N65/liter for PMS,Kerosene & Diesel . The NLC and TUC leadership should call up the Nigerian people for a general nationwide strike , and bring this government down , if they think we ..the Nigerian Poor . . .are nothing but fools. This whole exploitation must stop . Senators and Legislators getting paid N20Million & N15Million/month , while the rest of us have to make do on between N18,000 and N100,000/month.
Okonjo-Iweala & Dieziani-Madueke should be asked to leave the Cabinet , immediately.

samunfortunately, we allowed these people to seize our collective wealth and begin to use it the way they like. The current ownership structure must be revoked and given back to the people of Nigeria.Let us call on our reps / senators to pass a motion urging the president to revoke the licenses immediately. Enough is enough.

OsaThis is why we have the untouchables in Nigeria. They act with impunity and gets away with any crime, even at the level of murder. Who ever controls the economy, controls a nation. They buys up everything that will sustain their stranggle to power, by all means possible. Hence their deliverers, walk the halls of senate, and occupy the houses of governors. These are the power brokers and they decide what will and what can not, even at the peril of our collective security. Hence state police is a neccessary check and balance, needed to meet the security need of Nigeria. Lest when the IG sneezes order, all the organs stand at attention. State police will work to ensure, no criminal organization makes their state a heaven. ' them sabi every body.' Nigeria need to become a confederation. States can not remains stooge to the ruling party, who plays to the tone of voting blocks. Education should be mandated in Nigeria and must be free. In so doing, Nigeria will be educated enough to know their rights as Nigerian. Ignorance is the root cause of these impunity, and few men are able to to trample on the collective will of the people. A Nigerian would say 'no be ma papa money. Whose money are these "oil wells owners" stealing? What God giving right entitle them to that claim. This is the collective ownership right of every Nigeria citizen, who aboundoned their right to prostitute in foriegn land to make ends meet for her children. The Nigerian greatest scientist was denialed the right to polish his God given talent in a university. He roam the street with no hope for tomorrow. While a limited few sits on the entire of Nigeria, and deploy it to better other people, in foreign refineries, sending their kids to foreign scholls and they utilizes hospitals abroad, while Nigeria cannot afford a visit to the clinic. Health couls have been free if the few rouges, had a heart of flesh. He was denialed the opportunity to get education by those who stole his right, when they stole the money slated to improve and build new schools, hospitals, roads and provide constant power supply to that moves the mechinery of a nation. They stole our security of lives and property, rebuilding the infrastructures, and loan to farmers for a sustained food supply. They stole the money from the mouth of our yet unborn and children who are languishing in hunger. They stole the right to live from the man robbed and kill by those who took up crime to survive.. This is the legacy bequeated to our nation by those who promised changed, but realing in wolve clothing. Now that the truth is known, will the President do his constitutional duty, and restore back the right of our oil wells, to the RIGHTFUL owners.(Nigerians)

UcheNews like this will never stop surfacing from Nigeria, a country full of corruption, tribalism, inequality, hatred, North - South dicotomy. How would you expect that justice, love of one another, oneness and good governance will prevail?

As for Theophilus Danjuma, God must surely pay him back for all his evil deeds, all he did to Ibo people, his children, children must in one way suffer the altrocities and pains he caused to Ibo people.

To GEJ, all I say to him is to grow up, shine your eyes before they shine it for you. Everyday you open Nigerian dailys, and media what you hear is this million/billion money is missing, oil wells shared, shame to them.

The good news I know is that at the end of the day everybody will die and we the poor masses will die peacefully and they all that fraudlently obtained their money by trick cancer will kill all of them.

Daddy FunkyThese guys were promoted to ranks of 'general' after plotting coups. There are no real generals in the Nigerian army. Because they are not well educated, they feel accumulating such wealth is the best option. What of Nigeria's stolen monies that have been lost in Switzerland with the depositors families not being aware of existence of such monies after the demise of the thieves? We have a long way to go. Until these guys know that one-day, we all will die and leave this miserable earth with nothing, they will keep stealing.

peter omelazuThis is the reason we opposed the so called subsidy removal when we have about very few Nigerians that the president needed to use the authority of his office to recover from them the common wealth of all Nigerians from their possession. Can you imagine the level of wealth these cabal are swimming into which has bereft them of ideas on how to turn Nigeria around. These are the people that so called Boko haram should go after if they are really seeking for true justice. If they have come out and give the government marching orders to review these unjust deprivation of Nigerians they would have had the massive support of right thinking Nigerians of all works of life.I hope they would redirect their energy to refocus on these looters of a bleeding nation.

VicMAI couldn't finish reading what was going on when I quickly scroll to put down my point.
Let me ask all Nigerian this QUESTIONS How long do Nigerians think that those who loots our county's wealth and pocket it will live? If any of them will not live up to 150 years to enjoy all that they stole, then what benefit? Do they know how many Nigerians have been jailed abroad as a result of running out of Nigeria that our so-called leaders have destroyed, to see if they can become even a slave in a foreign land but only to be thrown into prison for something they should not go to jail?
The tears that run down Nigerians cheeks in foreign land, will surely hunt them out even their children and children children.
The only thing they can do to escape this punishment is to bring back the nation's wealth that they all stole and give them back to the nation.

chineduWere these people not the ones Silverbird Television Management under Murry Bruce gave award few weeks ago. I was shocked at what Murry Bruce- a Niger Deltan shamelessly did. First, it was Yakubu Gowan whose hands are soaked with the blood of his (Murry Bruce)innocent 3 million Biafran relatives/children, and which guilt has driven him (Gowan)to form ineffective "Nigeria Prays". The yoke will continue to be on those who committed that genocide against Easterners. Theophilus Danjuma also received award for, not only enriching himself with ill-gotten wealth from Niger Delta oil block fraudulently allocated to him by his living and dead partners in crime, but the brutal, and most cruel and uncivilized murder of Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi, and partaking in the genocide that saw 3 million Biafrans dead during the Civil War..I commend deserving when given, but stand to dernounce poorly thought out awardees of unmerited award.I am ashamed of Silverbird for that outing.
